Melvilasom (English: The Address) is a 2011 Indian courtroom drama film directed by Madhav Ramadasan and written by Soorya Krishna Moorthy. It stars Suresh Gopi and Parthiban in the lead roles, and features Ashokan, Thalaivasal Vijay, Nizhalgal Ravi, Krishnakumar and Sanjay in other pivotal roles. An adaptation of Soorya Krishna Moorthy's stage play of the same name, which itself was based on the Hindi play Court Martial by Swadesh Deepak, the film reached theatres on 29 April 2011. It received wide critical acclaim upon release and got a dubbed release in Tamil as Ulvilaasam.

The film does not feature any woman character (except the girl child of Sawar Ramachandran) or songs. The entire film was shot inside a room and filming was completed in just nine days. Sticking close to the Aristotelian unities, the screen time of an hour and half dovetails perfectly with real time.

Synopsis

The film traces the progress of a court martial of a Dalit soldier, Sawar Ramachandran (Parthiban), who has been accused of killing Capt. Verma and attempting to kill Capt. Kapoor (Krishna Kumar), while on guard duty. There are eyewitnesses who have noted that the incident happened in a fit of rage but are clueless about what actually transpired before Ramachandran used his weapon and even Ramachandran has pleaded guilty without being ready to disclose anything else. Prosecutor Capt. Ajay Suri (Nizhalgal Ravi) has every intention to set the noose hanging and ready for Ramachandran. From the outset, Captain Vikas Roy (Suresh Gopi), who defends the accused, is pessimistic about his chances of saving his client. But, still, he is bent on finding the truth behind the incident. And the truth is apparently an "eye opener" for the army as well as society.

As described in a film magazine, Professor Delmar (Druce) is sent to China to study child-life and decides to leave his daughter Emily (Murdock), who is always getting into trouble, with his good friends the Lethbridges. One night Emily runs away from a musicale and attends a cabaret. Not knowing how to explain matters and feeling sure that Trotters (McDougall), a friend, can help her out, she goes to his apartment. Waiting for him to return from the club, she takes a nap. Mrs. Lethbridge (Veness), not wishing her husband to know of Emily's escapade, tells him that Emily is staying with her aunt, who has the mumps. Trotter is told of the story and, wishing to make it good, plans to take Emily to her aunt's house. They stop at a hotel for lunch. Emily has her dog hidden and tells Trotter that it is lost and that she will not leave the hotel until it is found. Julia (Carlyle), the fiancee of Trotter, decides to visit the sick aunt. She is accompanied by Herbert Threadgold (Gottschalk) a nervous little body who is in love with Emily. Their automobile breaks down and they are forced to stay at the same hotel that Emily and Trotter are staying. Aunt Geraldine follows and they are all arrested for kidnapping Emily, but through the efforts of Lethbridge (Brown) they are all released. Julia marries Threadgold and, to avoid a scandal, Emily marries Trotter, not that either objects.

Domenico Soriano, un riche séducteur napolitain, a rencontré une prostituée, Filumena Marturano, à laquelle il propose de venir vivre avec lui, dans sa demeure. En fait, Filumena va se trouver réduite au rôle de bonne pour la mère de Domenico qui est dans un état végétatif et de gouvernante de la maison. En plus de ces charges domestiques, elle en vient à s'occuper du restaurant-pâtisserie de Domenico pendant que ce dernier, libre de toute contrainte, passe son temps à voyager à travers le monde. Après 22 ans de cette vie ingrate, Filumena tombe subitement malade et n'en a plus que pour quelques heures à vivre. Pour soulager sa conscience, Domenico accepte, à la demande du prêtre, de l'épouser. Cependant, une fois le mariage prononcé, la mariée se lève subitement de son lit, révélant ainsi son stratagème. Elle annonce alors à Domenico qu'elle a trois fils de 20, 18 et 15 ans et qu'il est le père d'un de ses trois fils mais sans lui préciser lequel. Le mariage est annulé et Filumena quitte la maison. Après avoir vainement tenté de découvrir lequel des garçons est son fils et finalement réalisé qu'il aime encore Filumena, Domenico va l'épouser. Et ce n'est que le jour du mariage qu'il découvre qu'il est le père de tous les 3 garçons.

Mary Haines est l’épouse exemplaire d’un homme d’affaires Stephen Haines et mère d’une petite fille.
