Passion's Playground is a 1920 American silent film produced by and starring Katherine MacDonald. Rudolph Valentino has a featured part in the film billed as Rudolph Valentine. The film is based on the novel The Guests of Hercules by Charles Norris Williamson and Alice Muriel Williamson. This film is presumed lost.

Dans Clothes-Line Alley, Terry McGowen courtise Amarilly Jenkins, une vendeuse de cigarettes. Lorsque le riche sculpteur Gordon Phillips est blessé lors d'une bagarre dans le café où elle travaille, Amarilly l'emmène chez elle, où sa mère, une blanchisseuse irlandaise, soigne ses blessures. Pour la remercier, il engage Amarilly pour faire le ménage de son atelier. La tante de Gordon, M Stuyvesant Phillips, espérant faire avec Amarilly une expérience sociale, emmène la jeune femme dans sa magnifique maison. M Phillips réalise avec consternation que Gordon est en train de tomber amoureux d'Amarilly. Pour illustrer la folie de cette alliance, M Phillips invite toute la famille Jenkins pour le thé, au cours duquel M Jenkins danse une gigue avec le maître d'hôtel. Amarilly et Gordon se rendent compte qu'ils ne sont pas faits l'un pour l'autre, et Amarilly retourne vers Terry et un vrai bonheur.

As described in a film magazine, Jules Marin (Williams), a Paris thief so clever that the police cannot catch him, has been decorated with the Croix de guerre and loves children. He is popular with the underworld and people warn him when the police are coming. He makes an Apache jealous, and this man tells the prefect of police Henri Duval (Shaw) that Marin will be at a particular restaurant. However, Marin is told that one of his adopted orphan, whom he has picked out among the refugees, is sick, and leaves, thus saves himself. On the way to the orphan his car breaks down, and he goes to the home of jeweler Anton Deprenay (Standing) to get a car. The daughter Mme. Helen (Adams) is there alone and, believing that he is on an mission of mercy, lets him use the car, with him leaving his military decoration as collateral. The police later follow and take down the number of the car. When the prefect goes to the Deprenays, the car has been returned. Later, at a party, Marin is introduced to Helen as M. Picard, but she recognizes his voice. Marin recognizes a crooked promoter at the party. A necklace is stolen, and Helen suspects Marin, but he proves his innocence and recovers the gems. Helen tells him that when he gets as good a recognition from society as he obtained in the field of battle, she will be his friend. Marin learns that the promoter has a stock market scheme to swindle the community out of millions, so, while posing as an investigator from Scotland Yard, Marin helps the prefect get the money back. He and Helen ride off in an automobile.

Arathea Manning a perdu l'ouïe lors d'une épidémie de scarlatine chez les enfants à qui elle enseigne. Son fiancé Arthur Endicott, qui est impliqué avec une autre femme, se plaint de devoir toujours crier pour se faire entendre. Un inventeur, Gerald Staples, donne à Arathea un appareil pour restaurer son audition, mais un de ses élèves à problèmes le casse dans un accès de rage. Gerald demande à Arathea d'être secrétaire dans sa nouvelle société qui commercialise l'invention. Il tombe amoureux d'elle et joue du piano pour elle, même si elle n'entend que des bruits sourds. Arthur, frustré et jaloux de Gérald, broie la bague qu'il a donnée à Arathea sous son talon, la faisant s'évanouir et tomber sur la tête. Quand Gérald la trouve, il la réconforte en jouant du piano et ils découvrent que le choc lors de la chute a restauré son audition.
