Thamarai is a 1994 Tamil drama film directed and produced by K. K. Rajsirpy. The film features Napoleon, Rupini and Rohini in lead roles. The film had musical score by Deva and was released on 19 August 1994.
Synopsis
According to the prophecy, Kali temple has to be shifted in Madurai Veeran temple's place. This prophecy creates troubles between the two communities of the village. In the meantime, Thamarai (Napoleon) comes back from jail to help the "Madurai Veeran" community against the vicious village chief Subbarayan (Rajesh).Acteurs

Bandhukkal Sathrukkal is the story of sibling rivalry between Viswabharan (Narendra Prasad) and Damodaran (Thilakan), both money lenders. The story is told by Sakshi(Jagathy Sreekumar) who appears in the scene in key moments and direct the story. Damodaran's business is booming whereas Viswambharan is financially struggling and is an alcoholic. Their wives Kamalakshi(Zeenath) and Dakshayani(Vadivukkarasi) also maintain the animosity. Viswabharan's daughter Sheela (Rohini) is struggling with Simple schizophrenia. Minor Muthurasu (Nassar) is a rich man in his village and womaniser who raped the village girls. While in the nearby village, Ellaichami (R. Sarathkumar) is a brave village chief and he protects the village. Ellaichami's sister (Gowri) and the village's veterinarian (Vetri Vigneshwar) are in love. One day, Kaveri (Rupini) comes to Ellaichami's village to find out the person who raped her but she didn't see the culprit's face. Ellaichami promises to not prepare any ceremony until he catches the rapist. In the meantime, Ellaichami's sister becomes pregnant. Raja (Parthiban) lives with his mother Thayamma (Sujatha) and he is a graduate who works as a mechanic since he finds an appropriate job. He finally gets a job in Delhi. Unfortunately, Raja misses the train in a station and his certificates, because of Narmadha (Rupini), a poor idli seller. Raja must wait 4 days for the next train. Slowly, Raja and Narmadha fall in love with each other. When he returns at home, his mother Thayamma becomes mute. Raja works as the car driver of a rich man Kandhasamy (S. S. Chandran) and his granddaughter Narmadha (Kushboo) teases him a lot. Until, she knows that he is well educated and she falls in love with him. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Udhayakumaran aka Udhaya(Vijay) is a college student who is doing research on atomic physics. Soon he is selected to study at Cambridge University due to the papers he has submitted on his research. However he declines and his teacher gives him the job of another teacher who is on leave. There he meets a student Vasanthi (Simran) and soon they fall in love. But later on he comes to know that she is engaged to be married. As he can't see his lover married off to someone else he moves to Chennai and finds a job as a reporter at a magazine with the help of Basheer (Vivek). He tries to fight for social change during which Basheer gets killed. He unknowingly gets to know a group of unsavoury characters who introduce him to their boss Dhananjay Veeran(Nassar) who poses as a person fighting for the people. They all promise to help him in his goals. Dhananjay asks Udhaya for a weapon to help break the granite rocks to save labour. Udhaya gives him a bomb that he had discovered during his research. However Dhananjay had other plans and uses it to cause a train to explode thereby killing many people. They frame him up. That night Udhaya is arrested by the police (Thalaivasal Vijay) and is accused of the bomb blast for which he was not responsible. Udhayakumar tries to fight his way out but in vain. In the process his father Muthuswamypillai(Rajesh) dies of heart attack on seeing his son in jail, himself being a retired constable. When Udhaya comes to his village to see his dead father Vasanthi tells him that his boss is not helping at all. While they are returning, the police jeep gets stuck in mud. So Udhaya, finding an opportunity, then cuts his handcuffs using one of the guns left behind by the police. He then sees Dhananjay Veeran and Niranjan discussing a plot to bomb a school bus and realises that Dhananjay is behind all this. He goes to the spot where one bus catches fire and Udhaya saves the children. Dhananjay arrives and seeing Udhaya attempts to shoot him but Udhaya stops him. Udhaya beats him up and throws him into the burning bus. The police arrests Udhaya despite the children's protests to not arrest him. He is taken to court where he is proven to not be guilty and is released. The film ends with Udhaya embracing Vasanthi.
