It is an adaptation of the Bollywood film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. The film is one of the most highly anticipated and one of the biggest block busters in 2004. Chiranjeevi and Srikanth won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu awards respectively. The film was followed by a 2007 sequel, Shankar Dada Zindabad.
Synopsis
Shankar Prasad, nicknamed "Shankar Dada" (literally "Brother Shankar") is a bhai or gunda: a crime don in Hyderabad. Given that his father had wished him to be a medical doctor, he creates the faux Sri Satya Prasad Charitable Hospital (named after his father) and pretends to live in accordance with this wish whenever his father (Girish Karnad) and mother (Venniradai Nirmala) visit him in Hyderabad.Acteurs

À la suite du décès de son mari, Sharda (Priya Tendulkar) épouse le gouverneur Jaisingh Sinha (Raj Babbar). Son fils aîné, Sahil (Bobby Deol) ne l'apprécie pas. Lors d'un anniversaire il menace son beau-père avec un couteau devant tous les invités. Le lendemain, il découvre son père tué par la même arme et il est arrêté sur le lieu du crime. Au tribunal, tous les proches de son père, le médecin de famille, l'avocat et même sa propre mère témoignent contre lui ; il est déclaré coupable et est condamné à 14 ans de prison. Quelques jours après son arrivée en prison, il s'évade et une chasse à l'homme est organisée, dirigée par l'inspecteur Udham Singh (Om Puri). Toutes les personnes qui avaient témoigné contre lui sont hospitalisées les unes après les autres et le docteur Gandhi (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) est assassiné. Tout en incitant Mantri (Prem Chopra) à lui avouer la vérité, Sahil apprend qu'Udham Singh croit avoir arrêté le véritable assassin et obtenu ses aveux. Peu après, Sahil retourne chez lui et sa mère le pardonne. Mais le cauchemar reprend quand Udham Singh est poignardé et personne ne connaît alors l'identité du vrai tueur.

Micheal Velayudham (Pawan Kalyan) is a chef in Cape Town, South Africa. He is an easy going chap who flirts with girls and makes the most of his affairs. His ambition is to go to US and work in New York for a stockbroker. He dates one of his acquaintance Meera Shastri (Trisha Krishnan) an art restoration professional in Cape Town. After a year, they agree to break up as she has to move to India for work and he thinks long-distance relationships don't work. In Cape Town, Micheal meets Senapathi (Paresh Rawal) the owner of a restaurant who narrates the love story of his friend Arjun Palwai (Pawan) with Vasumati (Kriti Kharbanda) which had happened around 1981. Meanwhile, after Meera moves to India, Micheal fails to connect with any other girl. To prove to her that he has moved on, he meets a blonde girl Michelle (Danah Marks) in a bar and dates her. However, Meera is proposed to by her family friend Sudheer (Sonu Sood), a politician, and she agrees to marry him, only to prove that she has moved on too. He comes to India with some pretext and meets Meera. Micheal who is frustrated that Meera married Sudheer, gets desperate and tries to regret what had happened so far in his sorrow he gets an offer for his dream job in US. After initially having joyful moments in his new job, he eventually feels some loneliness which he doesn't understand. The rest of the story focuses on how Michael realises his mistakes and how Arjun Palwai's story makes an impact on his decision.
