Hearts of Youth is a 1921 American silent film based on the novel Ishmael, by E. D. E. N. Southworth. The film was directed by Tom Miranda and Millard Webb, with Webb writing the adaption for the screen. The movie stars Harold Goodwin, Colin Kenny and Iris Ashton, and was released by the Fox Film Corporation
Synopsis
Ishmael Worth renounces his young sweetheart, Beatrice, because he believes himself to be illegitimate and does not want to bring shame to her. Later it is revealed that his mother and father had married. His father's previous wife, thought to be dead, turns up to confront him; but the fact that the first wife was a bigamist makes her marriage to Ishmael's father null and void and the marriage between his mother and father therefore valid. Ishmael, having a legitimate father, now can give Beatrice an honest name.Acteurs

After a row, Ellinor Devine reveals to her husband Sir Richard that he is not actually the father of their son, also named Richard, but that he was fathered by her cousin, Lord Bellasis. Sir Richard throws his son out and storms off in a rage. Shortly afterwards, Richard Junior finds his biological father dead in the forest. Only the viewer and an unidentified witness know that Lord Bellasis has actually been killed by his own son, known as John Rex. However, it is Richard Devine who is found next to the body and arrested. Thinking that his father killed Bellasis, Richard wants to protect his mother's reputation and gives his name as Rufus Dawes.

As described in a film magazine review, two children who want to become circus performers run away from home. The mother of the girl is ill and has been sent to the hospital, while the father of the boy is a junk dealer. The finally arrive at the circus of Colonel Simmonds (Richardson) and obtain employment. When Janet Magie (Love) falls from a horse, Simmonds learns that she is actually his daughter and through her is able to contact his wife, who had left him due to a misunderstanding. This results in a happy reunion.

La tenancière de saloon Ruby McGraw a refusé plusieurs fois d'épouser Yukon Ed malgré les demandes réitérées de ce dernier. Elle tombe amoureuse d'un personnage peu recommandable, Jack Sturgess, qui a séduit et abandonné une jeune fille dans l'Est avant de se réfugier en Alaska. Lorsqu'Ed la trouve très malade, il va lui-même chercher un docteur, mais ils arrivent trop tard. Ed retrouve Jack et l'envoie sur la "piste sombre".
