Charles Carlton Maxwell (December 28, 1913 – August 7, 1993) was an American character actor and producer who worked primarily in television.

Maxwell frequently appeared as a guest star in western television series, including as Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Lawman, Rawhide, and The Rifleman. In 1959, he was cast as General Phil Sheridan in the episode "One Bullet from Broken Bow" of the NBC western series, Bat Masterson, starring Gene Barry in the title role. He appeared on NBC's Bonanza eight times as entirely different characters.

Maxwell was a regular on the short-lived series The Hank McCune Show and appeared as Virgil Earp in the Star Trek episode “Spectre of the Gun” in 1968.

Maxwell’s longest running role was neither a western, nor credited, when he was featured as the unseen radio announcer on CBS's Gilligan's Island.

Ex-convict Casey Martin (Lovejoy) is caught heisting a truck shipment. In exchange for immunity from prosecution, he agrees to work undercover to nail mobster Dutch Becker (Tucker). Torn between the two men is Martins's ex-girlfriend and gangster's moll Gladys Baker (Castle). In San Francisco in the 1910s, the clownish musical band that runs Firehouse 12 often drowns out alarms with their loud music. Smokey Hinkle (Buddy Hackett), a bumbling inventor and scion of a renowned firefighting family, buys retired firehouse horse Emma to pull his buggy, but when Emma hears an alarm, she follows the fire trucks at top speed. Smokey arrives at the fire at the same time as his pal, fireman Smitty (Hugh O'Brian), who points out that the blaze is in Smokey's own house. Smokey uses his new invention, an ingenious fire extinguisher, to put out the flames, prompting Smitty to hire Smokey as a fireman in exchange for half of the profits from the sale of the extinguisher.

Une étrange malédiction plane sur les propriétaires du manoir des Baskerville, situé dans des landes inhospitalières du Devonshire. Les héritiers de ce nom meurent sous les crocs d'un gigantesque chien. Le Dr Mortimer se rend au 221B Baker St. consulter S. Holmes : Sir Charles Baskerville est mort dans des circonstances étranges, peut-être de peur. Or son héritier, Sir Henry, arrive du Canada pour régler ses affaires et repartir,le Dr Mortimer a peur pour lui, mais Sir Charles ne croit guère en la malédiction et décline l'offre de Holmes. À peine arrivé à son hôtel, dans la rue, il est victime d'une tentative d'assassinat.....tout en s'étonnant qu'une seule de ses bottines ait disparu. Holmes expédie Watson à Baskerville pour veiller sur Sir Henry, il a mieux à faire. Dans le Devonshire les choses se compliquent : des cris sur la lande, un bagnard évadé, Lestrade sur sa piste, des domestiques bizarres, des voisins peu accueillants, d'autres qui le sont trop, un gitan indiscret : chaque jour Watson écrit son rapport à Holmes.

Susannah (Shirley Temple) est la seule survivante d'un pillage de chariots par les Indiens. Les mounties (soldats canadiens à cheval) la prennent avec eux et un des mounties, l'inspecteur Montague (Randolph Scott) la prend en charge. Les indiens volent ensuite des chevaux et les mounties décident d'aller voir le chef de la tribu qui leur promet qu'il n'a rien fait dans cette histoire. Il laisse son fils Petit Chef aux mounties comme gage. Susannah essaye de devenir ami avec Petit Chef qui ne répond jamais que par un bruit incohérent. Susannah le quitte après que Petit Chef l'ait traîté de "papoose". L'inspecteur Montague conseille Susannah de revoir Petit Chef et celle-ci fait un pacte en fumant le calumet de la paix. Chose qui ne lui réussit pas très bien. À une soirée, l'inspecteur rencontre la fille du capitaine, Vicky Standing et en tombe amoureux. Il apprend avec Susannah quelques pas de danse et se rend compte avec désolation que Vicky part. Il est triste et Susannah est jalouse. Un jour alors qu'elle se promène avec Petit Chef à poney, Susannah découvre un des indiens de la tribu de Petit Chef, l'indien Peau de Loup qui vend à quelques soldats des chevaux. Un des soldats découvre que les chevaux sont les chevaux volés et prévient Peau de Loup que des soldats détruiront leur village. Petit Chef et Susannah décident de garder le secret. Ils ne le diront que plus tard, lorsque l'inspecteur Montague est pris par les Indiens et bientôt brûlé. Les indiens découvrant la méchanceté de Peau de Loup, libèrent l'inspecteur. Le film se termine un jour, Susannah, l'inspecteur et le Grand Chef ont décidé de fumer le calumet de la paix.
