La philosophie de Prem Shankar Sharma (Ranbir Kapoor) est de diffuser la joie et le groupe qu'il a formé, le Happy Club, l'aide dans cette tâche. Major Jaidev Rajvansh (Anil Kapoor) and his fellow officer manage to rescue a leading politician as well as capture his kidnapper, Abhrush (Danny Denzongpa). Kashi (Sunny Deol) is a kind-hearted wrestler and the dutiful son of Shambhu Nath (Amrish Puri) living in Banaras. Shambhu Nath who was a freedom fighter awarded with Tambra Patra, is an honourable and respectable man in town. Kashi comes to Mumbai with his father for his medical treatment of throat and stays with his brother Shiv Nath (K. K. Raina). Kashi meets Gauri (Meenakshi Seshadri) and starts liking her. He learns that the colony is being terrorized by a tyrannical gangster named Katya (Danny Denzongpa) along with his other six brothers. Before Kashi's arrival, a resident named Sachdev (Om Puri) tries to initiate revolt against Katya but gets ruthlessly killed by him, thereby making Malti (Ila Arun), wife of Sachdev, go mad. Katya and his brothers become enemy with Kashi when he beats up their goons when they were beating up Malti. Shambhu Nath is later diagnosed with throat cancer and has only a few days to live.

The story begins with Col. Krishnakant and his ten men who were sacked from the Indian army as they failed in the China Gate mission. After witnessing the brutal slaying of her Forest Officer father, Sunder Rajan, at the hands of dreaded dacoit Jageera, Sandhya goes to Col. and asks for his assistance in bringing an end to Jageera's rule in the Devdurg region. Krishnakant agrees to assist her and summons ten of his fellow officers and subordinates to assist him in this mission. They assemble at Devdurg with the necessary ammunitions and arms to combat Jageera, not realizing that Jageera has influence over the local police detachment, who will prevent Krishnakant and his men to possess any guns and weapons. This does not deter the men, and they continue to stay on in Devdurg and gain the confidence of the villagers. What the villagers do not know that Krishnakant and his men had all been dishonorably discharged from the army for cowardice and retreating when attacked by the enemy.

Iqbal Ansari (Atul Kulkarni), accusé d’actes terroristes, doit être transféré de Chadanghbad à Mumbai afin d’y être jugé. Une première attaque du convoi provoquant la mort de plusieurs policiers incite la police de Mumbai à envoyer une nouvelle équipe chargée du transfert du prisonnier. La mission est confiée à Anant Kumar (Amitabh Bachchan), policier à la veille de la retraite et à la carrière ratée, sans doute parce qu’il n’a jamais cédé à la corruption régnant dans le milieu. Il accepte cette mission, pensant être enfin reconnu et finir en beauté sa carrière en étant promu commissaire de police. La tâche ne sera pourtant pas simple puisqu’il a dans son équipe, un jeune policier débutant et Shekhar Verma (Akshay Kumar), homme courageux mais sans grande morale. Il faudra compter aussi sur les complices d’Iqba Ansari, qui semblent, depuis le début, être au courant de toute l’opération de transfert du prisonnier.

The story is based on the concept of karma and bad deeds. Viren Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan), is an underworld don who rules over India. Shekhar lives with his parents, wife and his younger brother Aryan (Aryeman Ramsay). When Aryan runs away from home, Shekhar searches the whole city to find him. During his search, he witnesses Viren attacking the cinema theater in which Khan is hidden, and decides to help the innocent people in the cinema.
