Mahaprabhu is a 1996 Tamil masala film directed by A. Venkatesh, making his directorial debut. The film features Sarath Kumar, Sukanya and Vineetha in lead roles. The film, produced by Janaki Devi, had musical score by Deva and was released on 26 January 1996.
Synopsis
Daamodaran (Sarath Kumar) sells black cinema tickets alongside his friends Sethu (Goundamani) and Vicky (Senthil). Daamodaran is an angry man thus he promises to his mother Vellamma (Manorama) to avoid violence. Jyothi (Vineetha), Damodaran's cousin, is in love with Damodaran.Acteurs

Kannappa Rao (Raghuvaran), a powerful mafia lord, and his sons Vijaya (Rocky) and Jaya (Devan) spread terror around them. They are known for grabbing lands. One day, Vijaya and Jaya threatens Ramasamy (Sarath Babu) to give his land in which there is an orphanage but Ramasamy refuses categorically. Ramasamy was brutally killed in front of Gowri (Ranjitha). The information reaches his brother Shiva (R. Sarathkumar) who is a short-tempered soldier. His superiors reject his request to leave the military camp so Shiva fled the camp. In the past, Shiva was in love with Uma (Sukanya) but she died in plane crash. Later, Shiva complains against Kannappa Rao and he hires the lawyer Lakshmi Narayanan (Janagaraj). Lakshmi Narayanan's daughter Gowri, who is dumb, becomes the eyewitness of the case. What transpires next forms the rest of the story.

Aruna Arunachalam (Manorama) is an estate owner in Ooty and she is in trouble with Thiruttani (Anandaraj), who keep illegally some hectares of her estate. Murugan (Prabhu)won the Mr. Madras award and he also worked as a model. His mother (Lakshmi) advices him to find a decent job. He is later appointed by Aruna to protect her and she promises to keep him permanently. Aruna Arunachalam has two granddaughters : Meera (Sukanya) and Devi (Vineetha). Murugan investigates in Thiruttani's area and he finds Ganja plantation. Murugan then shows the proof to the police and they arrest Thiruttani (Anandaraj). Although, Murugan accomplishes his mission, Aruna dismisses him. So Murugan takes challenge to continue to work here. Murugan makes things rough on Aruna's family. Murugan's mother is worried about her son, she comes there and she faints after seeing Aruna. Murugan's mother is in fact Aruna's daughter. In the past Murugan's mother married with a poor labourer and Aruna didn't accept it. Meera and Devi fall in love with Murugan. Murugan makes a big drama to reduce Aruna's ego. In the meantime, Thiruttani escapes from jail and kidnaps Aruna. Murugan saves his grandmother and Aruna apologizes his daughter.

The village chairman Kalingarayan (Sakthivel) and his son Rajappa (Uday Prakash) spread terror among the villagers. Whereas Kattabomman (Sarath Kumar) is an angry man who cannot tolerate injustice. He was brought up by his grandfather (Nagesh) and his widowed mother. His family and Kalingarayan's family are in feud since several years. Kattabomman falls in love with Kalingarayan's daughter Priya (Vineetha) and he gets married with her without their family's wishes. In angry, his grandfather tells their past. The film starts begins with a politician's murder by a henchman of the local don Boopathy (Charan Raj). The police commissioner Ganesh (Sarath Babu) appoints the Scotland Yard trainee Vijay (R. Sarathkumar) to arrest Boopathy. Vijay finally infiltrates Boopathy's gang under the name Ranjith Kumar as an ex-jailbird. Vijay later arranges kidnap of Boopathy's sister Usha and he rescues her (Kushboo). Vijay slowly becomes Boopathy's right hand. In the meantime, Vijay and Usha fall in love with each other. Thereafter, Ganesh gets killed and Vijay gets stuck in Boopathy's gang. In addition to this, Boopathy begins to suspect Vijay. What transpires next forms the rest of the story.

Prabhu, hailing from an orthodox Brahmin community gets a job with Calcutta Constructions as supervisor. Calcutta Company has been in efforts to restructure their land by vacating an illegal colony lying adjacent to its premises. Popularly known as Vietnam Colony, it is inhabited by mainly daily labourers. The company has been in efforts to demolish the colony for long time, but failed to do so. The colony is now under the rule a few hardcore criminals to whom the residents have to pay specific amount every week. Now, Prabhu is appointed by company to evacuate the colony, by dealing with these criminals. He is assisted by Goundamani. Both arrive in the colony under the disguise of professional writers who are planning to write a story on the life of colony residents. Upon arrival, both enter the house of Manorama in search of a house, but she mistakes them to have come to see her daughter Vineetha and calls Unni to bring tea and snacks. But after knowing about the goof happened, she lets them stay on the top floor of her house. Upon the advice of the House broker, Manorama believes that with time, her daughter might fall in love with Prabhu and might get married to this educated Brahmin guy. In the coming days, Prabhu befriends with various members of the colony and tries to read out their idea about vacating the colony. But he realizes that it is not an easy task to evacuate the people and thinks about different plans to be operated. From Manorama, Prabhu comes to know that the entire colony was owned by Nassar, a millionaire, who even gave up his mom for money. What happens next is rest of story.
