Doris Pawn, est une actrice américaine du cinéma muet, née le 29 décembre 1894 à Norfolk, dans l'État du Nebraska, et morte le 30 mars 1988 à La Jolla, en Californie. Elle commence sa carrière à vingt ans et tournera dans soixante-six films entre 1914 et 1923.

Biographie

D'origine allemande, Doris Alice Pahn est née à Norfolk (Nebraska) en 1894. Elle anglicise son nom en Pawn et fait carrière au cinéma muet. Sa carrière s'arrête avant l'avènement du cinéma parlant.
Son premier mari est le réalisateur Rex Ingram avec lequel elle fut mariée de 1917 à 1920.

William Fielding (John Gilbert) lives in Shanghai with his young son David. Foo Chang (George Siegmann), a trader, loves the woman who cares for David and kills Fielding because he thinks she is the boy's mother. Li Clung (William V. Mong) takes David to his grandfather in San Francisco where he grows up and inherits the Fielding estate. Following David's marriage, Foo Chang tries to bribe David to help him bring a cargo of opium into the city, informing him that he is of mixed race. David takes his infant son, wife and Li Clung to Alaska. Li Clung kills Foo Chang and reveals the ethnicity of David's mother.

À l'université, Li Ting Lang a beaucoup d'amis, jusqu'à ce qu'il s'intéresse à Marion Halstead, une jeune femme de la haute société, ce qui lui attire de nombreuses remarques. A romance between King George III of England and a Quaker girl, Catherine, who becomes his morganatic wife, forms the early part of the story. Catherine is really half Indian, being the daughter of a French adventurer and an Indian woman, adopted and brought to England by a Quaker voyager. The hardships of the American colonists are shown and their rebellion against the English rule. In this rebellion, Catherine sees a chance to avenge herself upon the King, who has legally married a German princess. She goes to America and becomes a power over a tribe of Indians. One of her aids is her own brother, who had been adopted by a colonist. Brother and sister are unaware of the relationship until the close of the story. The gallant fight which the Americans under General Washington wage against the English troops and the Indians under Catherine's lead, form a thrilling phase of the story and the chief incidents with which every American is familiar are dramatically set forth. In addition, there are several minor plots and romances, some of which end happily, others tragically, when the war is over and the fight for freedom won.
