Upon release, the film received critical acclaim, appreciating Mahesh and Kriti's performance, and cinematography, while criticizing the lengthy run time. Shortly after its release, twenty minutes was reduced from the film's run time. The film grossed $1.2 million in the US, making it one of the fastest to reach $1 million mark, and one of the best openings ever for an Indian film at that time.
The film was produced by Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta and Anil Sunkara under 14 Reels Entertainment. The film stars Mahesh Babu and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. The soundtrack was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The cinematography for the film was handled by R. Rathnavelu. The film is subsequently dubbed into Hindi as 1: Ek Ka Dum, produced by Riwaz Duggal.
1 Nenokkadine Distribution Rights were sold for ₹72 crore (US$11 million) to EROS International.It was made with budget of ₹70 crore (US$11 million) most expensive Telugu film at the time.1 Nenokkadine had a Pre-release Business upto ₹92.5 crore (US$14 million).
Synopsis
After a recollection of his childhood memory in which he meets a police officer while being chased by three men, Rockstar Gautham (Mahesh Babu) kills one of the three men (Kelly Dorji) and informs the police. Inspector John Basha (Sayaji Shinde) takes him into custody. A news reporter Sameera (Kriti Sanon) who recorded the incident airs the video and shows that Gautham had imagined killing Dorji. Gautham's recollection continues and he tells the police officer that his parents were killed in a bus.Acteurs

The first scene of the film shows Arya (Allu Arjun) being carried into an operation theatre. His friend Ajay (Navdeep) narrates how Arya changed his life. In their childhood, Arya stays in an orphanage where he has no friends or family. By force, he befriends Ajay who also is in that orphanage. One day, Ajay is adopted by a rich family and leaves the orphanage behind him. As time passes, he becomes a big shot business tycoon and has his own software company, but Arya becomes a drunkard and does anything for Ajay. Ajay feels ashamed to say that Arya is his friend and avoids him. But Arya convinces him that he would be a good boy if he be given a job in Ajay's company. Die hard friend Arya just wanted to stay close to Ajay. But Ajay has one condition that if Arya is proven as a "bad boy" in the office, he has to leave the company. Thus, Arya converts himself into a " Mr. Perfect" without any defect and joins the company. Everyone in the company are fond of Arya, especially Shanti (Shraddha Das) who is madly in love with him. One day Geeta (Kajal Aggarwal) joins the company and Ajay and Arya both immediately fall in love with her. Arya is now Geeta's Team Lead. In a lift one day, while Geeta converses with Arya, suddenly he kisses her. In many other instances also, Arya keeps confessing his love to Geetha without anyone knowing about it. Ajay now wants to get rid of Arya. So, he crashes his own (Ajay's) car and weaves a story that Arya has crashed him. He did so, so that everyone would accuse Arya and he would be fired. At this juncture, Geeta comes to know that Ajay too loves her.

Seenu (Ram) enjoys fights right from his childhood. He appreciates violence. He wants to be like Manikyam (Pradeep Rawat), who was a goonda, as everyone, including his teacher, is afraid of him. Nanda Gopal a.k.a. Nandu (Mahesh Babu) is a professional assassin, and Malli (Sonu Sood) is his partner. State level opposition party leader Shiva Reddy (Sayaji Shinde) wants someone to attempt an assassination on him so that he can gain sympathy votes in the upcoming elections and become the new Chief Minister after promoting his party in such conditions. His colleague Baji Reddy (Kota Srinivasa Rao) with the help of Farooq (Posani Krishna Murali) hooks him up with Nandu for a deal for ₹1.5 crores. After receiving the payment, Nandu and Malli plan the fake assassination attempt at the promotion campaign held nearby and they choose a nearby building to hide and a car to escape. However, before Nandu can shoot Shiva Reddy, someone else fatally shoots him. Within minutes, police surround the building. Just before the exit of the building, a big car accident occurs on the street with Nandu's car. Nandu assumes that Malli got trapped and died in the accident. So Nandu goes to the top of the skyscraper. With the police behind him and in front of him, he is helpless. Suddenly a train comes and Nandu uses a rope to jump from the skyscraper to the train. On the train, Nandu meets Pardhasaradhi a.k.a. Pardhu (Rajiv Kanakala) and travels with him.
