L'agent de transmission britannique Mark Landers (nom de code « Pôle Nord ») et son poste radio sont capturés sur le territoire des Pays-Bas occupé par les troupes allemandes. Sous l'œil attentif du colonel nazi Bernes, il est forcé d'envoyer à Londres de faux messages mettant en danger les forces alliées. Cela débouche sur la capture de nombreux agents britanniques et résistants.
Maryland Calvert (Dolores Costello) est un belle fille du Sud. Lorsque la guerre civile éclate, son allégeance à la Confédération ne fait aucun doute. Edwards' situation is further complicated when he catches his wife, Celie, in the arms of a lieutenant, Forbes.
During the Korean War, while American Air Force pilots Lt. John Willard (William Bryant) and his brother Frank (Dick Paxton) are flying a routine reconnaissance mission, their commanding officer, Col. Ed Wyatt (Dan Duryea) orders them to bomb an enemy position. Frank's aircraft is shot down, and John returns to confront his commander over the reason for the dangerous mission. Wyatt's executive officer, Maj. Scott (Michael Fox) stops him and relates a story about Wyatt's career during World War II.

Le Major Peter Whitfield, un Britannique, se retrouve à défendre l'hôtel Zeus, assiégé par des rebelles Grecs conduits par un certain Mavroti. À l'intérieur, se trouvent notamment le Capitaine Elliot, un autre Britannique, plusieurs Grecs loyalistes, deux Américains, le Capitaine Stubbs et le soldat Feinberg, ainsi que le propriétaire de l'hôtel, Janny Mendoris, et sa fille Lelia. Whitfield apprend que l'hôtel renferme une importante cache d'armes, dont veulent s'emparer les rebelles, et décide de résister à leurs attaques. Au cours des événements, il va découvrir qu'il y a un traître dans l'hôtel.
