This film was objection for Vulgurity by West Bengal Film Publicity Act that Rituparna Sengupta was showing too much Skimpy, seductive.However, the West Bengal Film Publicity Act rejected the public presentation of some movie posters of Trishna. The West Bengal Film Publicity Act is basically a local body who gives clearance for films to be released in West Bengal only. Such act does not exist in any other Indian States. This movie is a Bengali remake of Bipasha Basu and John Abraham starrer Hindi film "Jism" The Telegraph commented that "Though almost a scene-by-scene copy of John Abraham-Bipasha Basu’s Jism, Pritam Jalan’s Trishna is nothing more than a sleaze fest with Tolly’s leading heroine ‘showing’ the way".

Synopsis
Raja (Angshuman Gupta), a professional photographer and a playboy, comes across Tiasha (Rituparna Sengupta) at a bar. She is totally different from the girls he knows and has an electrifying presence; she totally captivates him. She is hot and sensuous and Raja lusts after her. He starts having an affair with Tiasha. She tells him that her mother has blood cancer and she doesn't have good relations with her husband who is away. She tells him that Shekhar is not a nice person. Shekhar comes home one day and meets Raja at the bar and they get acquainted with each other. Tiasha tells Raja that Shekhar has made a will whereby he has decided to leave half his property to his wife and half to his sister Sumana whom he is close to. But Sumana and Tiasha can't stand each other. Raja decides to eliminate Shekhar in order to be with Tiasha.Acteurs

Abhimanyu Chatterjee (Jeet), a Captain in the Indian Army, returns to Kolkata from Kashmir. On his arrival, his parents and younger sisters force him to see Trisha (Subhashree Ganguly), who they choose for him to be married to. At the bride-viewing ceremony, Abhimanyu makes up excuses to avoid marrying her, which includes commenting about her being old-fashioned. On the contrary, Trisha is a college-level boxer, who is completely modern in her outlook. Abhimanyu realises this and proposes to her, which she reciprocates.

It is a romantic love story. Payel was the daughter of Pratap Choudhury who was an industrialist. Pratap was a boxing champion during his college days. He arranged his daughter's marriage with Viky who was a supervisor of his office. But Payel did not like Viky's behaviour. On the other hand, Rahul become an agriculturist, he was also an industrialist. But Rahul did not like to live with his father, so he lived with his friend Aziz and had his own agriculture farm. One day in the way to town Rahul and his friends saw some hooligans were trying to physically torture a girl. Rahul rescued the girl . From there they become enemies. After some days when Payel was going to a picnic, Rahul was returning from his farmhouse, Payel's car hit him and he fell beside the road and Payel went away. For that behaviour, Payel destroyed the farm house and killed many animals. After watching that Rahul forced Payel to rebuild the farm. So Payel was detained by Rahul in his farm. In the night she tried to escape but fell among some hooligans in the forest. But Rahul rescued her again. After that she fell in love . They loved each other. Pratap did not agree to their love. So he sent his daughter to his sister's house. Unfortunately there lived Rahul's uncle a Major. After knowing their love Major and Pratap's sister sent them to marry. On the other hand Viky was trying to marry Payel for Pratap's property, so he and his friends reached Rahul's father's house and at the end he was arrested by police. Rahul got wounded to save Pratap Choudhury. Finally Pratap agreed to marry his daughter with Rahul. Finally the romantic love story happily ended.

Rahul, a creative and sensitive individual, arrives at a lonely hill station in Sikkim to help build a new holiday resort. The friendship between the two couples, Rahul and Nandita and Amit and Preeti, paves the way for a deeper bond between Rahul and Preeti. It is the story of a music lover named Kishore (Prosenjit Chatterjee), he belonged to a poor family. He wanted to learn music from a person named Shankar Maharaj (Soumitra Chatterjee), who stopped teaching music because his students ditched him after learning music and violated his instructions. The movie is about a short yet qualified middle aged man named Mithilesh played by Rajpal Yadav and his insecurities about his height and personality when he gets married to Veena played by Rituparna Sengupta. A renowned gynaecologist, Dr Kingshuk Guha (Debshankar Haldar), finds himself in a professional crisis when one of his patients, Kabita Mondol (Sohini Sengupta), dies on the operating table while he is away buying a luxury apartment for his family. Though she gets romantically involved with Rajat along with her family support but then nobody is ready to bear its outcomes. It is then when she becomes pregnant, she realizes the real faces of the people whom she has been respecting and admiring so much. In a moment she is being out cast and constantly pressurized to surrender to the patriarchal will. But revolting against it she comes to discover the illegitimacy of her own birth and finds Urmila Sanyal as her escapist mother, who was scared of the social accusations.
