Rama Rao on his Ramakrishna Cine Studios banner. NTR portrayed the characters of Gautama Buddha, Vemana, Ramanuja and Adi Shankara in addition to the title role of Pothuluri Veerabrahmam. NTR acted in this film while he was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Rati Agnihotri, Satyanarayana, Kanchana in other important roles and music composed by Susarla Dakshinamurthi.
Synopsis
The story is based on the life of Pothuluri Veerabrahmam (N. T. Rama Rao) a well-known saint and astronomer of the 17th century. A brief life of Gautama Buddha, Ramanuja, Adi Shankara and Vemana (all essayed by NTR) are shown at the beginning of the film.Acteurs

The plot is based on the story of Disciples (Sishya) of Paramanandayya, seven saints in number. They are actually the disciples of Aruna Keerti Mahamuni. Chitralekha (K.R. Vijaya) dances in the court of Lord Siva (Sobhan Babu). He gives her a Rudraksha mala to wear during the visits. Later, she visits the beautiful Earth with her companions and enjoys bathing in a pool. She finds these Sishiyas keenly looking at her and curses them to become idiots. After knowing the facts from Guruji and realizing her mistake, she pronounces the vimukti (free from curse) at the time of her marriage. The Guru, Aruna Keerti, in return curses Chitralekha that she will lose her celestial status if she comes into contact with a human.

Ramu (Nandamuri Balakrishna) is an orphan whom Lawyer Raghava Rao (Jaggayya) and Gayatri Devi (Sharada) had adopted and treated him like a son. Ramu was treated as one of their four children. Ramu was very sensible and loved his parents a lot, he can do anything for his parents. Once Ramu meets Sita (Rajani) who is the daughter of the servant in their house and falls in love with her. Ramu's freedom and right in the affairs of their house is not liked by their own sons Satish & Ramesh (Hari Prasad & Bhaskar) and son-in-law Gopalam (Sudhakar). So they plan and remove Ramu from their house and takes all the authorities. Now Ramu is trying to reunite his family.
