Strikebound is a 1984 Australian film directed by Richard Lowenstein and based on the Wendy Lowenstein novel Dead Men Don't Dig Coal. The film got several AFI Award nominations and won in the Best Achievement in Production Design category.

Strikebound is the dramatised story of a coal-miners' strike in 1930s Australia, in the small south Gippsland town of Korumburra. The story is told through the struggles of Agnes and Wattie Doig, two Scottish immigrants, who were real people.

Comme chaque année, le garagiste Stewart Kane, d’origine irlandaise, passe un week-end avec ses potes sur les berges d’une rivière sauvage, en terrain montagneux. Mais cette fois, leur séjour est perturbé par la découverte du cadavre d’une jeune aborigène flottant non loin de leur campement. Leur désinvolture consterne les autochtones, offusqués par ce manque de respect, ainsi que Claire, l’épouse américaine de Stewart. Leur mariage, déjà tendu, est fortement ébranlé par l’affaire. Laquelle divise la communauté blanche de Jindabyne, comme le constate amèrement Claire en organisant une collecte pour les funérailles de la jeune fille.
