It is Venezuela's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film of the 80th Academy Awards.
Synopsis
During the leftist uprising in the 1960s in Venezuela, a young guerrilla-girl, living in secrecy, gives birth to her first daughter during Mother's Day. Due to that, her photos appear on the newspaper, since that moment they would have to run away.Acteurs

The film begins in a meeting on August 2002 where a social activist, Simon Petrov, is reading the sentence dictated by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights ordering the Venezuelan state to compensate to the relatives of the victims of the 27 February 1989 riots. The people at that meeting began to tell and remember the tragic moments of that event.

Short Eyes is set in an unnamed prison in New York City, whose inmates are predominantly black or Puerto Rican. One day, Clark Davis, a young, middle-class white man accused of raping a young girl, arrive. His fellow prisoners immediately turn on him — pedophiles are considered the lowest form of prison life — except for Juan, one of the institution's older prisoners, who treats him with dignity. While Davis insists he doesn't remember raping the girl, he admits that he has molested several other children.
