Biographie

Il a travaillé comme technicien du cinéma à Los Angeles, avant d'être invité par Sameer Sharma, un scénariste de Ram Gopal Varma, il s’est retrouvé en Inde à Mumbai. Se liant d'amitié avec Ram Gopal Varma, il s'est vu proposé la réalisation de films en hindi avec tous les ingrédients de Bollywood.

Le film s'ouvre sur les dernières minutes du match de Coupe du monde de hockey opposant en finale l'Inde et le Pakistan. Kabir Khan, le joueur vedette de l'équipe indienne, rate le penalty qui aurait permis à son équipe d'égaliser. Humiliés par cette défaite, les supporters et les médias accusent le joueur de corruption, ce qui ruine sa carrière. Sept ans plus tard, Kabir Khan se voit proposer d'entraîner l'équipe nationale féminine indienne pour le championnat du monde. Il accepte et commence alors le long chemin qui permettra à ces joueuses que tout oppose — milieu social, origine géographique, personnalité — de former une équipe soudée, capable de triompher aussi bien des équipes adverses que du sexisme ambiant.

The section of the Mumbai Police Department responsible for handling the underworld known as Crime Branch is headed by Sadhu Agashe (Nana Patekar). Sadhu is the city’s best inspector, with an enviable reputation and record of encounter shootings. Though tough, he is a loving husband to his wife (Revathi) and father and also helps his informers and other poor people in times of need. His immediate junior, Imtiyaz Siddiqui (Yashpal Sharma) despises Sadhu to no end; he feels Sadhu intentionally belittles him. Also Imtiyaz is more concerned about adding to his encounter score and therefore ends up killing more than the primary target which is the main reason Sadhu dislikes him. To add to his woes, Imtiyaz is unable to surpass Sadhu’s encounter "score". Enter Jatin (Nakul Vaid), a rookie to this line of policing who manages to impress Sadhu. The inspector takes the newcomer under his wing, further antagonising Imtiyaz. All of them report to the Commissioner Pradhan (Mohan Agashe) who is a fair and honest police officer.
