Starring Arya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles while J. D. Chakravarthy, Prathap Pothan, and Indrajith in other prominent supporting roles, the film, which had been under production since end-2006, is produced and distributed by K. Karunamoorthy and C. Arunpandian under the banner of Ayngaran International, filmed by Nirav Shah and edited by Sreekar Prasad, whilst, the film score was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who composed the soundtrack as well, which was released on 14 February 2009, coinciding with Valentine's Day.
The film revolves around five individual characters and the events in their life, that, on the one hand, changes everything in their respective lives, which the film's title refers to, and, on the other hand, also brings together these people. It is an anthology film, that contains two parallel moving stories, which are connected by a freak accident in Chennai. A young architect, falls in love with a young beautiful pediatric doctor, runs after her and tries to convince her to marry her, while, simultaneously, a morose ex-football coach troubles a software engineer by vowing to kill his eight-year-old son. How these characters get connected and confronted through the accident forms the crux of the story.
After several postponements due to various reasons, the film was finally released worldwide on 15 May 2009 to mixed reviews. Nearly one year later, the film was dubbed to be released in Telugu under the same title and was also dubbed in Hindi as Wardaat- The Revenge.
Even though this film is a remake of film 21 Grams, Vishnuvardhan made lot of changes on original story line for Indian Cinema.
Synopsis

There is the innocent Brahmin-boy Satya (Navdeep) who comes from Nagercoil to Chennai to join an engineering college. And then his problems begin one by one when he encounters the dreaded don Adhi Narayanan (Prakash Raj), who is actually Satya's father and his hot-blooded son Kutty (Arya). The film starts with Ashok setting bombs in three places and informing the police about them. Before the police arrive, the bombs are set off. He along with his lady love Maya (Nayanthara), both threaten her old collegemate hacker Arjun (Arya) who starts hacking one system after the other. Ashok then threatens Sridhar Raghavan (Aadukalam Naren) by trying to kill his baby so that he can extract the truth about black money, Ashok murders him in a fit of rage. Arjun, who is particularly irritated by the things happening around him, complains about the misdeeds of Ashok to inspector Prakash (Kishore). When Ashok gets closer to achieving his goals, he gets arrested by the police.

Kosi (Arya) and Selva (Bharath), are contract killers working for a middleman with the ironic name of Sami (Cochin Haneefa). Director Vishnuvardan portrays this morbid telling of two orphaned youths with incredible realism of trust, friendship, and ultimate betrayal masterfully. Kosi is an unblinking man with a stubborn feel for life thereby refusing to love and be loved. Selva, deaf and dumb, is equally intrepid although he has a heart ticking beneath the dark, dire exterior.

Laila and Majnu are two precious stones, which has value only if they are together. It is now possessed by Don, in Goa, who tries to sell it, in order not to lose it to his son, Gabbar, whom he despises. Don approaches two lowly thugs, Pancho and Vinci and offers it for a price of ₹10 crores. They agree and ask for a week's time to arrange the money. Billy, who is Gabbar's man, comes to know of this and offers Pancho and Vinci ₹100 crores to buy it. Pancho and Vinci gets ₹5 crores from Blacky, which actually belongs to the Tarkovs ( the Russian mob in Goa). For the remaining ₹5 crores, they plan to rob the black money of Podiyadis (a local hawala gang in Kerala). Sidharth (Indrajith) is the creative head of a prominent advertising agency. He has just been transferred to Kochi from Bangalore. Veena is Siddhu's girlfriend and runs a contemporary dance troupe.
