Sakthivel is a 1994 Tamil drama film directed by K. S. Ravikumar. The film features Selva, Kanaka and Vijayakumar in lead roles. The film, produced by M. Saravanan and M. Balasubramanian, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 14 April 1994 coinciding with Tamil New Year.

Synopsis

Sakthivel (Vijayakumar) is an honest head constable and has a daughter (Kanaka). One day, he beats a politician's son. He is subsequently promoted as a Sub-inspector but he is transferred to a ruthless village. A feud between Pannaiyar (Jaiganesh) and Chairman (Rajeev) divides the village in half and every day many villagers die.

Chinnaiya (Sarath Kumar) is a faithful servant in the house of a rich man (Vijayakumar). The rich man is angry with his elder daughter (Sitara), who yearns to mend their relationship. His second daughter, Prabhavathy (Simran Bagga), who arrives from America, falls in love with Chinnaiya but after gaining his trust, accuses him of attempting to rape her. Turns out that she did this to try to unite her sister's family with her father and send Chinnaiya out since it was Chinnaiya's father who killed her mother. So Chinnaiya is kicked out of the house. Meanwhile Muthaiya (also Sarath Kumar), Chinnaiya's father, is released from jail.

The movie revolves around three men Shankar, Salim and Simon who take the responsibility of reforming the society. Simon (Rajinikanth) and Salim (Jaiganesh) come from lower class, while Shankar (Vijayakumar) and his sister (Latha) are the children of (V. S. Raghavan), a corrupt businessman. Latha falls in love with Rajini, while Vijayakumar falls in love with Manjula Vijayakumar and Jaiganesh is already married. In different circumstances, Latha is forced to marry a man, but she runs away from him and lives with Rajini. The society goes against both Rajini and Latha and in the end Latha explains about how worse the man she is married to and unites with Rajinikanth.

Vijayakumar is the head of the village (Oor Gounder) with his wife Manjula and his daughter Srija. He is a person of who strictly adheres to the caste. Sarathkumar is also in the same village. The father of both Vijayakumar and Sarathkumar are one but Sarathkumar's mother is from a lower caste. So Vijayakumar always ignores Sarathkumar. Anandbabu who is relative of Sarathkumar comes to meet him in the village and falls in love with Srija. Vijayakumar comes to know about this and he makes arrangements for Srija's marriage with K.S.Ravikumar, son of Nagesh. At the end Vijayakumar becomes a good person with the advice of Manjula and a happy end of Anandbabu marrying Srija.
