George and produced by the then prominent actor Sukumaran. The film is an in-depth exploration of the psychology of violence. Ganesh Kumar plays the film's protagonist.
The film met with critical acclaim upon release, though not commercially successful. It received several accolades including the state awards of that year.
Synopsis
A ruthless rubber baron, Mathukutty, disregards the prevailing moral standards and spawns criminal sons as well as a sexually wayward daughter, Annie. His son, Baby is a psychotic strangler using a nylon wire and is eventually shot dead by his repentant father.Acteurs

Jathavedan is invited to Elavamkodu Desam, a princely state in pre-independent India, to treat the king's wife. Mannu is about the struggle between Damu, a tenant whose legal right to his land is obscure, and Krishnan Nair, a rapacious landlord. A henpecked politician wants his name attached to a new bridge, even if that means destroying another, perfectly serviceable bridge. This politician Dussasana Kuruppu (Bharath Gopi) is the president of the village. He along with his other members tries to demolish the bridge on advice of his fellow party member, his right hand and crooked mind Sikhandi Pillai (Nedumudi Venu). The opposition leader Ishak Tharakan (Thilakan) makes moves to thwart this and to capture the position of the village presidency. As a compromise step, both groups agree to relocate the bridge to a distant location so that not only a new bridge, a new road also will be needed to reach the bridge.The two tenders, one for bridge and one for road is given to two local contractors, one belongs to the ruling party and the other one supported by opposition. Ultimately the bridge is built and opened to public on the same day of the marriage of Dussasana Kurup's daughter and the Bridge contractor. The marriage function is attended by many including the minister of state for public works department and the entire people who came for marriage walks through the bridge causing it to collapse killing the crippled Kathorayan (Sreenivasan). The film ends by showing the broken bridge in the background.

The story proceeds in a flashbacks as the hero, Dr. Gopi, who has had a nervous breakdown, relives his past under psychiatric probing. It is the story of an ill-matched marriage — the husband, sensitive, introvertive and plagued by memories of a bygone love and the wife, rich, spoilt and self-centred — and how under the mounting stresses of daily life, the husband cracks up. Gopi is the only son of a widowed mother, and in strained circumstances, is put through medical college by his rich uncle on the understanding that Gopi marries his daughter Sumithra. Gopi, while in college, falls in love with a fellow-student, but they part company when his mother meets the girl and persuades her to give up the betrothed Gopi. Gopi's marriage with his rich cousin takes place, but it is doomed from its very start. They are not made for each other in either taste or temperament, and besides Gopi is haunted by memories of his former love. And Gopi, being the introvert he is, consummates the marriage, as it were, in a psychiatric ward.

The film's protagonist is Rahulan who loves three different women in different stages of his life. After his childhood love Thulasi commits suicide, Rahulan falls in love with his friend's sister Reena. She hails from an orthodox Christian family and Rahulan never has the courage to approach her father for a marriage proposal. After completing college, Rahulan gets a teacher job. He eventually falls in love with Meera, a rich student of his. Meera's family fixes her marriage with Rahulan. One night, Reena visits Rahulan in his house and at the same time Meera and her father also come and is shocked to see another woman with Rahulan. In the climax, Rahulan accepts Reena into his life. On the parallel, another romance story is also told, between Davis (Rahulan's friend and Reena's brother), and a nun.
