In 1858 in Italy, in Sicily, Franco and Ciccio defend the Bourbon army to prevent the unification of Italy built by Giuseppe Garibaldi. However, when the troops of Garibaldi defeate the Bourbons, Franco and Ciccio escape, taking refuge in a box, which is delivered in America. In the Far West, Franco and Ciccio find themselves involved in the American War of Independence against the Apache Indians. In the Wild West the bandits Franco and Ciccio, being unlucky in robberies, have an ingenious way to collect money. Ciccio gets captured by the guards of the sheriffs, while Franco, enjoying the bounty of money, saves his friend shortly before he is hanged every time. But one day Franco is unable to save his friend from a death sentence, and he believe Ciccio lost forever. After consulate drunk in a saloon, and having also won a lot of money playing poker, Franco meets magically Ciccio. He is not dead, and he plans to take revenge on Franco, but when he discovers with his friend the existence of a great treasure, buried in the desert of the West, the two friends that take up the membership.

En France, en juillet 1789, peu de jours avant que n'éclate la Révolution française, Franco et Ciccio La Capra arrivent à Paris pour chercher du travail. Ils en trouvent dans un atelier pour dames nobles. Don Franco and Don Ciccio are the respective pastors of the two principal parishes of a village in Sicily. The two have different ideals about society, and so they always fight by way: Don Franco is a priest more open to the social level, which supports the protests of the young communists, while Don Ciccio is a severe priest of the old school, who speaks in Latin and who hates communists protesters. One day the two bitterly quarrel over a disputed land of the city: Don Franco would create there a public park, with the support of the communists, while Don Ciccio would fain give it to the municipality for other interests. So the two fathers decide to settle the matter with a game of football.

Franco et Ciccio sont deux artistes ambulants italiens.
