George Ellsworthy "Roy" Redgrave (26 April 1873 – 25 May 1922) was an English stage and silent film actor. Redgrave is considered to be the first member of the Redgrave acting dynasty.

The Hayseeds and Duggaans live on selections next to each other. Joe Hayseed and Pansy Duggan want to get married but their families quarrel when the Hayseeds' cow gets into the Duggan's corn and they are forbidden to see each other. The two families have a brawl on the bush fence, a fight that only ends in exhaustion. However, a bush fire unites them and Jim and Pansy marry. Pansy falls pregnant and Dad Hayseed and Dad Duggan both hope for a boy which will be named after them. She ends up giving birth to twin girls.

Moondyne Joe is a convict who escapes after being victimised and mistreated by a cruel penal system. While on the run he is befriended by a tribe of aborigines who share with him their secret of a huge gold mine. Joe uses his new-found wealth to return to England and become a respected humanitarian under the assumed name Wyville. Recognised as possessing expertise in penal reform, he is ultimately sent back to Western Australia to help reform the colony's penal system. In the course of this he becomes involved in several subplots including the case of a young woman named Alice Walmsley who has been wrongly convicted of murdering her own child. Wyville/Moondyne succeeds in saving Alice from false imprisonment, helps to reform Western Australia's penal system, and achieves a number of other admirable ends before dying trying to save Alice and Sheridan from bushfires.

He does not see her for the next ten years however he provides for her well, and spends a lot of money in town, despite never seeming to work. It turns out that he has discovered gold and is hoarding it.

Richard Gannon discovers his wife Amy has been cheating on him with a man called Jim Williams and accidentally kills her in a fit of anger by pushing her over a cliff. He is arrested and sentenced to death but the judge recommends mercy and asks the Home Secretary for a reprieve. The Home Secretary at first refuses, but when he mistakenly comes to believe that his own wife is unfaithful, he realises how easy it would have been to kill her. After this, he grants a reprieve for Gannon and resolves to show his wife more affection.

In England, Jessie Grey is about to marry Leonard Lincoln but the evil Harold Hawk tries to force her to marry him and she wounds him with a gun. Hawk is arrested and sentenced to imprisonment in Australia. Leonard and Jessie get married and move to Australia. Hawk escapes from gaol and tries to get his revenge by kidnapping Jessie.

Nellie Owen is happily married to fisherman John, with whom she has a child, until a philanderer, Frank, convinces her that her husband is unfaithful. She runs away to the city with Frank, where she assists him extracting money from the rich in society, but after a while is consumed by guilt and wants to return home. After an argument with Frank, she arrives in time to help nurse her sick child through a serious illness, and is reunited with her forgiving husband.
