Lalita (Madhuri Dixit) catches the eye of JB (Raj Babbar) and he immediately falls in love with her and decides that he must have her. Her uncle Madhi arranges for them to marry but he is only doing this because JB is paying him to. When she refuses, JB kidnaps her and keeps her in his home until the day of the wedding. She is literally watched over by JB every day in case she tries to escape. On the day of the wedding, Lalita faints and uses this to escape. She also moves her mother away and barely escapes JB who assumes that she has been killed after he saw her being hit by a car. In fact, Lalita swapped her wedding dress with someone else, so the person that JB saw being hit by the car was not Lalita.

Devdhar (Rishi Kapoor) is a poor orphan who in his childhood had a magnetic friendship with Manorama (Padmini Kolhapure), the only daughter of the rich and powerful Thakur. The benevolent Thakur helped Devdhar go to the city for higher studies. After eight years, Devdhar returns to his village, where he finds Manorama has grown up. Hazari Prasad (Anupam Kher), marchand de condition modeste et avare, ne songe qu'à marier son fils unique Raja (Aamir Khan) à la fille d'un homme riche. Sapna (Karisma Kapoor), orpheline dès son plus jeune âge, a été élevée par ses trois oncles paternels : Bhola Nath (Om Puri) qui n’est intéressé que par l’exercice physique pour garder un corps d’athlète, Prabhu Nath (Paresh Rawal) qui loue la religion et Vicky Nath (Anupam Kher) dont la modernité et les goûts occidentaux exaspèrent ses frères. Sapna est maintenant une charmante jeune fille et ses trois oncles se mettent en tête de lui trouver un mari. Mais seul un homme partageant les passions des trois oncles pourra épouser Sapna. Bien que celle-ci ait toujours fait de son mieux pour respecter les souhaits de ses oncles, elle trouve cette fois qu’ils vont trop loin et décide de partir seule en voyage en Suisse. Raja Oberoi (Salman Khan) qui participe au même voyage tombe amoureux de Sapna mais celle-ci ne semble pas partager les mêmes sentiments. Mais lorsque Raja lui vient en aide, Sapna réalise qu’elle l’aime et tous deux décident de se marier en Inde. Dès leur retour au pays, le père de Raja (Kader Khan) se rend chez les trois oncles de Sapna pour demander sa main mais il ne peut garantir que son fils répondra aux exigences des trois oncles en se montrant sportif, pieux et moderne.

The story is about an orphan named Raju (Salman Khan) a business man in India. His mother died when he was very young, his father had already left him. At work, Raju witnesses Rajesh Mittal (Rishi Kapoor) winning an award on TV. Raju realises that Rajesh is none other than his dad, and leaves immediately for London. At the airport, he meets Sonia Singh (Amisha Patel) who has too much luggage and tries to get Raju to hold it. Raju understands her plan, and it backfires on Sonia. The two then begin to believe they love each other. After this, Raju finds Rajesh and tells him the truth. He then finds out that Rajesh is already married to Smitha (Rati Agnihotri) and has two kids, Rinkie (Rinke Khanna) and Bunty. Rinkie is about to get married to Vicky (Sharad Kapoor) but she is unaware of his drug dealings. Raju gives Rajesh eight days to break the news to his family and call Raju his son or he’ll tell the family himself. After he leaves, Rajesh gets afraid, and hires gangsters to attack him. On his way out, Raju gets beat up by the hired gangsters, though later rescued by Shera (Sanjay Dutt), also an Indian living in London. He saves Raju from getting beat up, and helps him as well.

Ballu (Sanjay Dutt), est un audacieux séduisant criminel recherché pour une multitude de crimes. Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya revolves around a progression of love between the two protagonists, Bobby Oberoi (Bobby Deol) and Ashi (Aishwarya Rai). Ashi is a free-spirited woman, in her early twenties, who has no plans to get married soon. Her father, Kailashnath (Anupam Kher), is traditional and believes important things in life, such as marriage, should adhere to the family's customs. He expresses his desire of marriage for Ashi and tells her he has a guy picked out for her, Rohit Malhotra. Ashi gets enraged at first, and then agrees to the marriage on the condition that she be allowed to meet him anonymously and observe his character and personality. Ashi's father obliges and Ashi is soon off to Europe to meet Rohit Malhotra. Ashi pursues her search of Rohit in Switzerland.

Widowed Sulakshana Devi (Raakhee) has three children: two sons, Arjun (Kanwaljit Singh) and Karan, and a daughter, Suman (Shehnaz Kudia). They live in a rented house and the landlord behaves badly with Sulakshana Devi and robs all her money. Karan decides to rob the landlord but gets caught and is sent to the children's remand home. Sulakshana Devi decides to visit Karan before they leave for Mumbai but realises that he ran away from the remand home. Karan also makes his way to Mumbai, where he is picked up by a garage owner.
