Faithful is a 1936 British musical drama film, directed by Paul L. Stein and starring Jean Muir and Hans Söhnker.

The film was a quota quickie production, with an original screenplay by Brock Williams and music by Pierre Neuville. The plot deals with two pupils from a provincial music conservatory who elope, marry, and come to London to try their luck. The husband becomes a singer in a nightclub, and is soon targeted by a predatory socialite. They start an affair, the wife finds out about it and decides to leave her husband, until matters are smoothed over by a third-party who wishes the couple well. Faithful is now classed as a lost film.

Hannes Kröger, qui est en fait marin, gagne aussi sa vie comme rabatteur, chanteur et musicien à l'Hippodrom que tient sa bien-aimée Anita. Il se situe dans la rue Große Freiheit, une rue latérale de la Reeperbahn, dans le quartier rouge de Sankt Pauli. Sur le lit de mort de son frère, avec lequel il s'était brouillé, ce dernier demande à Hannes de prendre soin de son amoureuse qui connaît des difficultés. Hannes parcourt le pays et amène la jeune Gisa Häuptlein à Hambourg, où elle vit dans sa chambre et en prenant soin de la maison. Kröger lui trouve un emploi comme vendeuse, où elle rencontre Georg Willem, ouvrier au chantier naval, dont elle tombe amoureuse.

A temperamental opera diva arouses official suspicion that she is a spy, secretly gathering classified information to pass to enemy agents. A policeman who happens to be a talented amateur singer is sent undercover to join the opera company and try to find out whether there is any substance to the allegations. Once there, an immediate attraction springs up between the policeman and a female member of the company. But the diva also sets her sights on him and, used to getting what she wants, becomes the bitter rival-in-love of the other singer. The policeman lets his lady friend into his confidence, and the pair set about sleuthing. They finally prove that all the suspicions were justified and the diva is indeed a foreign agent.
