Vaidhegi Kaathirundhaal (English: Vaidehi waited) is a 1984 Indian Tamil language Romantic Drama film written and directed by R. Sundarrajan starring Vijayakanth, Revathi, Parimalam, Goundamani and Senthil. The film was successful and was considered one of the master pieces of R. Sundarrajan. The film was remade in Telugu as Manchi Manasulu and in Kannada as Preethi Nee Illade Naa Hegirali'.'

Synopsis

The film was a huge success and was considered one of the master piece of R. Sundarrajan. It was also the best action oriented film during the decade.It also projected Vijayakanth as a versatile actor, who was known to play excellent roles.

Tulasi (Radha) is a village girl. One day she gets a letter from her cousin Subramani(Mohan). She gets excited as they were close friends in childhood but Mohan left with his family to city. Subramani visits the village for his college thesis about folk songs. Tulasi is in love with Subramani but she is confused whether Subramani also loves her. Tulasi's father passes away due to heart attack. When Subramani's mother arranges a marriage for Subramani with Tulsi he refuses. Because of this, her mother died in frustration. Then Tulasi comes to her Uncle's house. Later a flashback comes in which Subramani is in love with Noorjahan (Amala). Since Noorjahan used to come to the music college with veil, Subramani has not seen her face. On a day when they plan to meet, Noorjahan dies after she steps into quick sand. Finally whether Tulasi marries her beloved cousin Subramani is the story.

Palanisamy (Sathyaraj) is an uneducated man who dreams to marry a teacher and lives with his friend Dhandapani (Goundamani). Palanisamy falls in love with Hamsaveni (Sukanya) at first sight.
