Akash (Prosenjit), a determinate man. Plans set up an advertising agency. We see huge ceremonial accordion when this Akash comes back home during Puja. When he returns to the city, his friend Prabat dutta (Tapas Pal) tells him that he has fallen in lane with a girl named Arundhati (Rituparna Sengupta), to he sends his friend Akash to Arundhati's parents to talk about the marriage of Prabat Dutta & Arundhati. Arundhati on the contrary loves another boy named Nirmalya, when she later discovers fat he will marry here if her father invests the required sum of money demanded by him. Now she becomes terribly helpless, because she also rejected kash's friend Prabat Dutta's proposal of marriage. At pont of time, Akash save him the required love & affection so they felt in love with each other. Before marriage Arundhati's father disclosed a secret of Akash, that Arundhati is not their own child they have adopted her. Accidentally Arundhati comes to know about the fact & she becomes terribly depressed. On the same day Akash's grandfather name to see Arundhati. This fact was bringing kept a secret from his grandfather, but he came to know from their servant Hari Da. After marriage when Akash's family members came to know about the fact, they behaved very badly with her but his grandfather gave her the required love & affection & always supported her. Here, Akash's sister became pregnant & the boy she loved died. After giving birth to the child she also died, Arundhati & Akash adopted the child. This story gives us the lesson that a person’s birth doesn't matter, what matters is his/her behaviour of work.

Sur un paquebot de croisière les emmenant en Inde, les Britanniques Nigel et Fiona font la connaissance d'un autre couple aussi étrange que provocateur, composé d'un écrivain américain infirme et quinquagénaire nommé Oscar (Peter Coyote) et d'une jeune danseuse française, Mimi (Emmanuelle Seigner). Très vite la sensualité de Mimi attire Nigel (Hugh Grant). Oscar le pressent immédiatement. Il va faire de l'Anglais son confident et lui narrer toute l'histoire vécue avec sa jeune épouse, en lui apprenant comment, de leur rencontre à Paris et d'une relation encore maladroite et étouffante, ils évoluent vers un jeu de domination/soumission. Cela à l'apparence d'une relation domination/soumission BDSM, mais il s'agit en fait d'une relation destructrice hors consentement qui bascule dans le crime.

Adela Quested se rend, dans les années 1920, en Inde pour la première fois, en compagnie de sa future belle-mère, Mrs Moore, son fiancé Ronny y travaillant pour le gouvernement britannique comme magistrat. Elles sont choquées par la discrimination raciale. Adela est envoûtée par la sensualité de l'Inde. Les deux femmes se lient d'amitié avec le doux et naïf Docteur Aziz qui les emmène visiter les mystérieuses grottes de Marabar. Cette visite prend des allures tragiques lorsque Adela, victime d'hallucinations, sort d'une des grottes en courant, morte de peur. Elle se blesse en dévalant la pente au milieu de cactus, trouvant refuge dans une voiture conduite par une Anglaise. Elle accuse plus tard le Dr Aziz de tentative de viol. Ni Mrs Moore ni l'ami d'Aziz, Fielding, directeur du collège, ne croient en cette accusation qui met la ville au bord de l'émeute. Le procès a lieu alors que Mrs Moore meurt sur le bateau qui la ramène en Grande-Bretagne. Appelée comme témoin, Adela retire ses accusations, rompt ses fiançailles et quitte l'Inde. Plus tard, Fielding, qui a épousé la fille de Mrs Moore, retrouve Aziz dans un petit hôpital au cœur de l'Himalaya.

Hari Mondal(Om Puri) is a poor village farmer who lives in the remote Bengal village of Giripur in Birbhum district with his wife, two sons, brother, an old widowed aunt Kalidashi (Gita Sen)and her daughter Panchi. The movie opens in the mid sixties when the Naxalbari uprising is spreading across Bengal and oppressed farmers are being united by youths who believe in communism ans a socialist republic. Hari and his brother Bolai (Noni Ganguly) are Borgadars, land tillers who plough and harvest the crop on land owned by Jotdars. Bibhutibhushan Ganguly (Victor Banerjee) is the young jotdar who has just lost his father and now wishes to employ new laws on his Borgadars ensuring his greatest profit while the poor farmer languishes in poverty. His estate agent Karmakar(Rajen Tarafdar)does most of his dirty dealings on his behalf that include keeping the poor villagers scared and in command. Hari's sister is about to get married and Hari asks Bibhutibhushan for a loan. Bibhutibhushan asks him to not register his Bargadari rights under the government office in exchange. Hari is naive and moulded under generations of servility and oppression to realise that his basic righta are being squandered although his younger brother Bolai isn't happy remaining as mere servants to the landlord. Bolai protests on multiple occasions only to be reprimanded by his brother and Karmakar. Bolai and Panchi(Sreela Majumdar) love each other.
