An impoverished single parent, Robert Lim (Jericho Rosales) spends his free time with his young son Brian (Bugoy Cariño), whom he was mad for being responsible of the death of his wife during childbirth. One day Robert went to a mall with Brian for some father and son bonding time, Brian goes to the bathroom then mysteriously disappears. Robert, worried about his son's disappearance, informs the police chief (Leo Martinez) that his son was abducted. Using evidence shown on camera disc recorded under surveillance, it shows a teenage kid talking to his son Brian. Enraged by this, Robert goes to a park in Quezon Avenue in search of the suspect and later witnesses him getting off a taxi. Robert enrages at the boy but he escapes. The next day, police recover a dead boy's body with Robert thinking it was his son, but this turns out to be his son's kidnapper's body. Robert, becoming more furious, attempts to hunt down the man down responsible for his son's disappearance. He then encounters a vigilante, and with his knowledge about the suspects of Brian's kidnapping, pretends to help him by telling him that his son is now being transported to Hong-Kong. Robert soon discovers that Brian's kidnapping is the result of human-trafficking. That night, Robert receives a call from the vigilante again telling him that he should meet him under an overpass, but soon gets ambushed by police with the vigilante dying on the scene. Several years passed, Robert has a new family and with his new son (John Manalo), travels to Hong Kong with him. On the streets, his son suddenly goes missing. Robert goes to search for him, feeling worried that the previous incident would occur to his new family. Robert searches for him in a subway and finds a homeless man playing a harmonica. Robert suddenly recognises the homeless man's harmonica, realising that Brian had exactly the same harmonica from his childhood. Robert also remembers Brian teaching him a secret handshake. Robert attempts to do the secret handshake with the homeless man, who knows the secret handshake as well. Realising that his long-lost son was finally found, Robert tearfully embraces him and the story concludes with his other son witnessing the scene.

A group of young Filipino athletes find themselves stranded on an uninhabited island after their plane crashes, claiming the lives of both their pilot and coach. Luis organizes the group and appoints himself leader. They find fresh water and gather coconuts. They then tried to build a shelter and tried to start a fire to keep warm and alert passing ships of their whereabouts. But Andy is more interested in playing Indians and hunting wild game, and it soon becomes evident that he is unhappy with Luis's leadership. Andy challenges Luis to a proper vote, resulting in a division amongst the group, half in favor of Andy and half in favor of Luis. What follows is a rapid decline into all out war between the two groups.

A woman struggling to make a better life for her family finds that her efforts have caused a rift between her and her children in this downbeat family drama. Josie knew she could make far more money in Hong Kong than she could at home, but she also had qualms about how this would affect her children, especially when her husband died not long after she left. When Josie returns home, she has gifts for everyone and has saved a large percentage of her salary, which she plans to use to start a business; but her children don't welcome their mother with open arms. The younger kids, Daday (Sheila May Alvero) and Michael (Baron Geisler), are guarded around Josie, and while in time they are able to mend their relationship with their mother, the oldest, Carla (Claudine Barretto) does nothing to disguise her resentment for what she sees as a callous abandonment of her family. Carla openly challenges Josie's authority, starts dating boys she knows her mother would not approve of, flaunts her burgeoning sexuality, and begins using drugs and has multiple abortions.

Everything changes when she arrives at her destination: a pitiful shanty that houses a dying old woman whose only wish is to see for the very last time her only son, a soldier who was sent to the Korean War. Vic (Tony Santos, Sr.), the war hero who returns to Manila and is forced to live within the ruined walls of the cathedral and among the people who have temporarily resided therein, whose left arm was rendered useless by a war injury, returns to the Philippines a hero. His welcome is cut short when Cita's younger brother informs him of his mother's impending death. He rushes to his mother's shanty in the slums and rushes to her bed, and she recognizes his face, greeted by Cita's emphatic stare and her mother's staggered breath. As if it’s the only thing she is waiting before crossing the realm of afterlife, she screams, lays her head on the side, and dies in his arms, leaving Vic in the grips of despair and depression, driving away the concern of people around him including his mother’s friend Cita who struggles to give him hope and win his love. Disillusioned and unemployed he turns to black market trading and currency smuggling.
