Zach Lipovsky is a director and visual effects specialist, who started working in the industry as a child actor, when his mom, a producer, decided to put him in front of the camera. Lipovsky was a finalist on the Fox reality show On the Lot.
Lipovsky gained attention with his entry for On The Lot. His introduction video featured himself shooting down a UFO with a bazooka, all done with computer-generated imagery. His film was an edited version of an earlier project, Crazy Late.
For On the Lot, Lipovsky did the special effects for the short film Time Out, which was produced along with Sam Friedlander and Adam Stein. Lipovsky also produced the comedy short film, Danger Zone, which placed in the top three on the May 29, 2007 results show, based on votes by the American public. Lipovsky was declared the show's wunderkind by judge Carrie Fisher. His film Sunshine Girl was shown on the June 19, 2007 episode and all three judges chose it as their favorite film that week. His short film Die Hardly Working was shown on the June 26, 2007 episode and two of the three judges said it was their favorite. On July 9, 2007, his short film Time Upon A Once was shown and guest judge Luke Greenfield chose it as his favorite.
However, Lipovsky was eliminated from the competition on August 7, finishing fifth out of 12,000 filmmakers.
In late 2012, Zach went on to direct his first feature length movie Tasmanian Devils a Syfy monster movie starring Danica McKellar (Wonder Years) and famed speed-skater Apolo Ono. Partnering with a group of his childhood friends, Zach produced Afflicted, a Canadian genre found-footage film that sold at Cannes to CBS and Alliance Atlantis and Sony. The film in premiering at TIFF 2013.
He immediately acquired Los Angeles representation and began directing commercials as well as numerous development opportunities, including a script sale with Disney and the epic action/fantasy Dogs of War, a comic book styled War of 1812 epic, produced by Rhombus Media
He is currently in post production on the reboot of Leprechaun produced by WWE Studios and in his spare time Zach also runs Reel Apps, the software company behind Shot Lister, the leading digital shot listing app on the app store.
