Yuvan Shankar Raja (tamoul: யுவன் சங்கர் ராஜா) est un compositeur et chanteur indien né le 31 août 1979 à Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Inde. Il est surtout marqué par les chansons des films tamouls et telugu. Il est le fils du très célèbre compositeur Ilayaraja et le frère du compositeur Karthik Raja et de la chanteuse Bhavatharini .
Sa carrière musicale a débuté en 1996, à 16 ans, quand il a composé la musique du film Aravindhan. Après une lutte initiale, il a tenté sa chance avec la bande Thulluvadho Ilamai (2001), et a évolué comme l'un des compositeurs du cinéma tamoul les plus pris du milieu des années 2000

En l'espace de 14 ans, Yuvan Shankar Raja a travaillé sur plus de 85 films. Considéré comme un compositeur polyvalent, il s'efforce souvent pour des musiques différentes et novatrices et a exploré et utilisé des éléments de différents genres dans ses compositions qui vont du folk au métal lourd. Il est particulièrement connu pour son utilisation des éléments de la musique occidentale dans ses pièces et souvent crédité d'avoir introduit le hip-hop dans les films tamoul et l'industrie de la musique et avoir commencé à «l'ère de remixes" dans le Tamil Nadu. Être immensément populaire parmi la jeune génération, il est fréquemment désigné comme le "Rockstar", et le «Icône du Tamil Youth Film Music". En outre, Yuvan Shankar Raja est reconnu pour son score de fond dans les films (réenregistrement) qui ont récupéré la distinction parmi les critiques.

Il a remporté deux Filmfare Awards, le prix du meilleur compositeur musical en 2004 pour son score dans le film "7g Rainbow Colony" à 25 ans, reste le plus jeune vainqueur de la sentence, et le Prix Spécial du Jury en 2009 pour son "Oy" le Telugu musicale! D'ailleurs, il a reçu deux nominations pour les Filmfare Awards, l'un du Tamil Nadu Film Award national en 2006 et le Prix du Festival International du Film de Chypre en 2006 pour le film RAAM, devenant ainsi le premier compositeur et l'unique indien gagnant.

Biographie

Yuvan Shankar Raja married his girlfriend Sujaya Chandran on 21 March 2005, at the Mayor Sri Ramanathan Chettiyar Hall in Chennai, India. Yuvan had met her in 2002 as a fan at a music cultural program in London and both fell in love later. Sujaya was a London-based singer and the daughter of Dr. C. R. Velayutham and Dr. Sarojini Chandran. They had a secret registered marriage in September 2003 in London, before the formal public wedding was held in 2005 with the consent of their parents. In August 2007, they filed for divorce with mutual consent, which was granted in February 2008, after 6 months. The reason for the divorce was cited to be "irreconcilable differences".

On 1 September 2011, he married Shilpa Mohan at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh on 1 September 2011. The marriage was held in a simple ceremony with only family members and close friends being present. Shilpa was revealed to be a B.Pharm graduate from the University of Adelaide, Australia. A wedding reception was arranged a day later in Chennai.

In February 2014, he announced through his Twitter account that he had embraced Islam. He further rechristened himself as Abdul Khaliq.

On 1 January 2015, he married Zafrun Nizar, House of Al Nizar, a Dubai-based Fashion and interior designer hailing from Keelakarai, in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu.

Pasupathy (Shiva) is a go lucky guy who wanders without any purpose. He is living with his younger sister Kavitha (Monisha) and house maid Senthamarai (Kovai Sarala) who is a part-time liquor seller in black market. Pasupathy's sister is in love with his close friend Mano (Soori) which Pasupathy is not aware. His friend indirectly tries to convey that matter to him to which he does not understand. Pasupathy has a maternal uncle (Ilavarasu) who is a lawyer and their care taker since their parents died. Pasupathy loses his house to a bank on a surety crisis which involved his father. Hence he is compelled to settle in job. Pasupathy's uncle applies for an opening in his friend's mineral water company 'Classique' for marketing head post. He gives many instructions about the owner Sivagurunathan (Prakash Raj) who is an ardent devotee of Lord Murugan and who is against recommendations. Pasupathy manages to get job by dressing in a simple Gandhian manner, faking as a Murugan devotee and tells he follows very valuable principles written in the book of Sivagurnathan himself which attracts Sivagurunathan.

The plot revolves around Karthik and Shwetha, who are college mates from upper-middle-class families. While in college, they meet through some common friends and hang out often as a group. Shwetha has a childhood friend Genni, who is very protective of her and often wards off the boys who try to hit on Shwetha, and Karthik's friend Jai on the other hand encourages him to fall in love. Karthik falls in love with Shwetha eventually, but he hesitates to tell her. On Shwetha's birthday, Karthik intends to propose her but when he hesitates yet again, Jai lets the cat out of the bag, and tells that Karthik loves her, but Shwetha rejects the proposal. After a series of pursuing and some serious drama like falling from a moving bus, Shwetha agrees to Karthik's proposal.

David Billa (Ajith Kumar), a Sri Lankan Tamil refugee along with several others, arrives at the town of Rameswaram in boat. After being interrogated by an arrogant civil servant, he is let into the refugee camp where he befriends Ranjith (Yog Japee). David makes his presence felt, when he slaps Muthu (Theepatti Ganesh) one of the rogue workers around for making a derogatory comment. The refugee camp is constantly terrorised by a corrupt police officer Raghubir Sinha (Krishna Kumar). After witnessing the brutal murder of one of the inmates at his hands, David attacks Raghubir when he tries to forcefully detain one of his friends. Raghubir then gets David tortured in prison, and vows to make him suffer. A few days later, Muthu calls David and Ranjith aside and promises them work. Billa and Ranjith are hired to transport fish from Rameshwaram to Chennai. But unknown to them, the truck they were driving had diamonds inside, and Raghubir had alerted his men on the highway to catch them red-handed. As per the plot they get caught in the check post, and after realising what had happened, Billa kills all the cops and drive the truck to its destination. Here they meet Selvaraj (Ilavarasu) who is pleased by Billa's loyalty and includes him in his businesses. Billa gets back and murders Raghubir as well as the arrogant civil servant he had initially met at the camp. He then goes to meet his elder sister (Janaki Sabesh) and his niece Jasmine (Parvathy Omanakuttan) in a church. When they see his gun, they realise that he is involved in crime. Not knowing what to say, Billa simply walks away.

Natarajan (Delhi Ganesh) is a Brahmin house-owner near the Parthasarathy Temple looking for a right tenant for the upper portion of his house. He is very protective of his college going beautiful daughter Gayathri (Kanika). Since he often fears that the prospective tenant might romance with his daughter he filters all the people who come asking for the house. He rents out the house to five bachelor students who pretend to be good.They start showing their character soon by taking away roofs and watching her. Incidentally Mani, who stays with his Jailor uncle (R. Sundarrajan), was thrown out of his house as he refuses to marry his daughter.
