Yisrael "Poli" Poliakov (Hebrew: ישראל פוליאקוב) (July 7, 1941 – October 30, 2007) was an Israeli comedian and actor. Poliakov was born in Jerusalem, and grew up in Tel Aviv. He became one of the three members of the Israeli comedy group, HaGashash HaHiver (The Pale Tracker).

Ya'ara, 24 ans, est belle, indépendante et intelligente. Malgré son handicap, elle est aveugle, elle vient de commencer son doctorat de mathématiques à l'université de Princeton. À la suite du suicide de sa cousine Talia, elle rentre précipitamment en Israël partager le deuil de la famille. Talia et elle, élevées ensembles, ont tout partagé de leur enfance et de leur adolescence, Talia soutenant à Ya'ara qu'elle pouvait tout voir en dépit de sa cécité. Sans le vouloir, Ya'ara est amenée à découvrir les mensonges, les failles, les secrets de la vie de Talia et de leur famille commune. C'est elle, la jeune aveugle, qui finira par mettre au jour le secret à l'origine du suicide de sa cousine, situation que la famille a toujours refusé de voir ou d'admettre.

Staff Sgt. Raphael "Gingy" Moked is ordered by his company commander, Captain Shamgar, to retrieve Sergio Constanza, a deserter from reserve service. On his way he meets his girlfriend Yaeli and offers to talk to her father, Victor Hasson, to get a blessing for their relationship. Hasson gives his blessing, believing that Moked came for his older daughter Shifra, but throws him out of the house after finding out this was not so. Yaeli does not wish to part from Moked, and sneaks into a suitcase in his jeep. Meanwhile, Constanza tricks several other gamblers into losing thousands of dollars, which he intends to use to repay his debt to Mr. Hasson. The gamblers find out about the plot however, which leaves Sergio with no choice but to run away to the army with Moked.

Ervinka is a young man living in Tel Aviv of the 1960s. He does not believe in work, morality, law and order, and settling down. He ekes out a living as a petty con man by charging parking fees to a lot that doesn’t belong to him, stealing electricity from his neighbors, eating for free in family events he is not invited to, and extorting money from movie directors by revving up his moped engine near their film sets. He also finds ways to con the authorities, taking advantage of the stupidity, laziness, and inefficiency of bureaucrats (a favorite subject of Kishon's work). Ervinka even ingratiates himself with the local underworld by getting them out of trouble with the law over a robbery. His only dream is to win the lottery so he would not have to get by on his wits anymore.
