Yakub Khan Mehboob Khan, known as Yakub, was an Indian Hindi film actor born into a Pathan family in 1904 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. He died in 1958 after a career spanning thirty years in the film industry. He is best known for his comedic villainous roles.
He commenced his career as an extra but soon did roles as a hero and later as a villain. He became one of the most renowned screen villains, while achieving equal success in comedy and character roles. Yakub appeared in over 300 films.

Alan White donnerait tout pour sauver sa fille Emma qui attend sur son lit d'hôpital une greffe du coeur. Un soir, le destin frappe à sa porte et lui donne l'occasion de la guérir. C'est son fils Danny, dont il est resté sans nouvelles depuis sept ans, qui vient lui rendre visite. Devenu malfrat, il se réfugie chez son père avec une balle de revolver dans l'abdomen, après que son gang ait raté son coup. Il n'en a plus que pour quelques heures. Désespéré, il propose un marché à Alan : offrir son coeur mourant à sa soeur en échange d'un petit arrangement. Le coup raté en question est un enlèvement au cours duquel l'otage a été tué accidentellement. Il faut quelqu'un en remplacement et Alan pourrait très bien faire l'affaire. Ce dernier accepte tout en courant le risque d'être exécuté.

Ab Dilli Dur Nahin is the story of a journey in search of justice. Hariram, a poor labourer, loved his wife and son Rattan so much that he lavished them with all the comforts of life even though it meant he was constantly in debt. Hariram's life fell apart when he lost his wife. So grief-stricken was he that he even lost his job due to poor attendance. Misery drove him to seek solace in alcohol. When drunken Hariram reached home he found his son crying as an evil loan shark Sethji had beaten him up.

Kishore (Arun) and Manorama (Mridula) are in love with but unable to get married. Mridula's father is a clerk, who can't afford to pay the dowry demanded by Arun's family. Jayant (Yakub) is a widower, and Mridula is married off to him. His cruel behaviour becomes apparent when he starts torturing Mridula soon after their marriage. Arun's parents get him married to the rich Champa (Leela Pawar) who is in love with someone else. Arun helps her get married to Naresh, the man she loves, by giving her a divorce. Arun watches the torture inflicted on Mridula and the story then continues through tense scenes where eventually Arun kills Jayant and unwittingly Mridula too, following which he's sent to a mental asylum having been declared insane.

Two friends, Pancham (K. L. Saigal) and Rekhab (Arun) have just arrived in the city. They are looking for jobs and accommodation. Pancham interested in music, finds a job in a music and dance school to teach singing. There he meets Indu, who teaches dancing to the students. She also happens to be his upstairs neighbour where he has rented a room. Indu lives there with her sister Bindu (Kamala Chatterjee). Rekhab manages to rent a room below a wrestler's (Lala Yakub) accommodation. The two friends fall in love with the two sisters. The wrestler helps Rekhab to develop his physique in order to impress his sweetheart. Through comic situations that follow, the film ends happily.
