Walter Vidarte (18 July 1931 – 29 October 2011) was a Uruguayan actor.

Biographie

He appeared in 83 films and television shows between 1958 and 2011. He starred in the film Circe, which was entered into the 14th Berlin International Film Festival.

He died in Madrid on 29 October 2011, after suffering from pancreatic cancer. His remains were incinerated at Cementerio de la Almudena.

Les premières images : un champ de tournesols au crépuscule. Un homme sort furtivement de la plantation, monte dans sa voiture, démarre et s’éloigne. On le voit plus tard, étendu sur son lit dans une chambre de motel : il parle au téléphone avec sa femme, approuve mollement ses décisions domestiques, tout en regardant à la télévision les nouvelles régionales : une jeune fille a été retrouvée dans un champ de tournesols « à Cerredo, près de Santa-Cruz-de-Mira », elle a été tuée après avoir été violée. La télévision montre la jeune morte sur un brancard, et ses parents accablés de douleur…

The movie begins with Tobi and his parents, Jacinto and María López, at a picnic. Back home, Tobi starts to feel a strange itch on his back, and he is subsequently taken to the hospital for further evaluation. The next day, the doctor escorts Tobi's parents to the hospital to see him, where they learn that a pair of wings grew out of the two itchy spots on Tobi's back. At this point, the hospital does not let Tobi and his parents interact, but his parents are able to see him through a one way window with Tobi not being aware that he is being watched. Tobi’s parents are taken to the doctor's office to discuss the rare condition, where the doctors can't explain why Tobi grew a pair of wings. Jacinto becomes concerned about his son’s future and what he will face in society, so he asks the doctors to surgically remove the wings. After arguing with the professor and doctor, María grows upset, expressing that she wants her son back with or without his wings, because she loves him either way. Eventually, the parents go home without Tobi.

The film opens on Martín Santomé's (Héctor Alterio) 49th birthday, a widower and the father of three children: the eldest, the embittered Esteban (Luis Brandoni); the caring middle-child Blanca (Marilina Ross) and Jaime (Oscar Martínez), a closeted homosexual. He goes to work thinking they have forgotten his birthday, and once at the office, he assigns two new employees to their jobs: the effeminate, nervous Santini (Antonio Gasalla) and the young Laura (Ana María Picchio), with whom he soon develops a bond.
