Viswanathan (Sreenivasan) is a village officer. He wants to make his son Manu (Vineeth Sreenivasan), an engineer. But manu wants to become a singer. Viswanatahan sends him to a coaching centre principled by KC Francis (Thilakan). Manu often tells his mother (Suhasini) to allow him to go and participate in reality shows. But Viswanathan doesn't agree with it. When the exam result come, Manu fails. Viswanathan calls him a cheater and slaps him. Manu leaves his house. After two days Viswanathan finds out that Manu is working as a waiter in a hotel. Viswanathan's heart is broken and he becomes a drunkard. But Manu also participates in a reality show.

Balettan is the story of Athaniparampil Balachandran (Mohanlal) who is known for his service in the society. His father (Nedumudi venu) is a retired postmaster. He lives with his wife Radhika (Devayani) and two children. Circumstances turn him as a debtor and he is arrested in a cheating case but he manages to solve all those problems with his father's pension money. One day a stranger (Riyaz khan) comes to meet Balachandran .He introduces himself as Bhadran and ask his help for marrying her sister. Balachandran gets angry and this leads to a violence in the house and his father asks him to leave the house. On the next day while travelling in a bus his father has a heart attack and is admitted to hospital. Later he calls Balachandran and reveals that he has another family. Balachandran, on hearing this shocking fact is stood shock stricken unable to accept his father's words while his father suffers another cardiac arrest which leads to his death. In his death bed he asks Balachandran to take care of his second family and also request that his mother should never come to know about this. The rest of the story tells how Balachandran manages to solve all the problems.

Pallavoor Devanarayana Pothuval aka Devan (Mammootty) who is a talented drummer. People flock to the festivals just to see him play the drums with utmost devotion. His father opposes his relationship with a girl belonging to a lower caste and forces him to marry a girl of his choice Vasundhara (Sangeetha). Unable to bear his decision she commits suicide. He leads a very glum life with Vasundhara though she loves him and takes good care of him. Sooryan tells the story of Sooryanarayanan (Jayaram), who is a very popular and accomplished singer. His family comprises his mother (Kalaranjini) and his widowed sister Raji (Nandini) and her two kids. There is also his eldest sister (Zeenath), who is married to a businessman named Sundaran (Sreehari). One day, while Sooryanarayanan is on a hospital visit with his niece, he sees someone who sends the shivers down his spine.
