Tyler Perry (né Emmitt Perry, Jr., le 13 septembre 1969) est un acteur américain, réalisateur, dramaturge, scénariste, producteur de cinéma, auteur et auteur-compositeur.
Perry a écrit et produit de nombreuses pièces de théâtre dans le Sud des États-Unis pendant les années 1990 et au début des années 2000. En 2005, sort le premier film inspiré d'une de ses pièces, Madéa, grand-mère justicière (Diary of a Mad Black Woman). Par la suite, il réalise lui-même toutes les adaptations de son œuvre au cinéma.
En juillet 2009, les films de Tyler Perry ont rapporté près de 500 millions de dollars à travers le monde. Néanmoins, ses films sont assez peu distribués en dehors des États-Unis, et aucun d'entre eux n'a bénéficié d'une sortie en salles en France, même si certains sont disponibles en DVD (notamment Madéa, grand-mère justicière, celui qui l'a fait connaître).
Forbes, en septembre 2011, a publié sa liste de personnes les plus payées du divertissement entre mai 2010 et mai 2011. Perry est en première position de cette liste.
Depuis 2009, Tyler est le compagnon du mannequin Gelila Bekele - de dix-sept ans sa cadette. Le 30 novembre 2014, elle a donné naissance à leur premier enfant, un garçon prénommé Aman Tyler Perry.

On July 20, 2009, Perry sponsored 65 children from a Philadelphia day camp to visit Walt Disney World, after reading that a suburban swim club, the Valley Swim Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, had shunned them. He wrote on his website, "I want them to know that for every act of evil that a few people will throw at you, there are millions more who will do something kind for them."
On December 8, 2009, his mother, Willie Maxine Perry, died at age 64, following an illness. As of 2013, he is unmarried. He lives and works in Southwest Atlanta where he operates the Tyler Perry film and TV studios. In August 2010, it was reported that he had purchased Dean Gardens, a 58-acre (23 ha) estate in the Atlanta suburb of Johns Creek. He was reportedly planning to tear down the existing 32,000-square-foot (3,000 m) mansion and build a new, environmentally friendly home on the property.
On September 25, 2014, it was announced that Perry was expecting his first child with his former girlfriend Gelila Bekele, . On November 30, 2014, Bekele gave birth to their son Aman Tyler Perry.

Perry describes himself as a Christian. He has become good friends with Janet Jackson, Will Smith, and Oprah Winfrey.
