Karan (Zain Khan) is a thirteen-year-old orphan boy who lives in a dilapidated orphanage owned by a stern, uncouth warden, John "Hitler" Kakkad (Rajesh Khera). Karan has two dreams: one is to have parents and the other is to be a big cricketer. His inspiration is Kapil Dev since he has been brought up on the motivating stories of India's '83 World Cup win by the orphanage caretaker, Bholu Dada (Susheel Parasher) who is a loving and a gentle old man. Karan's best friend in the orphanage is Daboo (Deeptiman Chadhury) who often lends his gentle ears to the aspirations which Karan lives on. His dreams take a turn when one day, he lays his hands on an old cricket bat which Karan is convinced is the bat that Kapil Dev used to win the '83 World Cup; for him, the bat becomes a magic bat. One day by a stroke of luck, the coach of the Indian cricket team spots Karan playing cricket and is highly impressed by his batting skill. At that point in town, the Indian National Cricket Team have been going through a "rough patch". Karan and his magical bat are inducted into the Indian cricket team as the opening batsman along with the captain, Varun (Rahul Bose). When the little boy marches onto the pitch and wins the match for India Karan soon becomes the nation's heartthrob. Although he was formerly rejected by adopting couples, he is now the most sought after kid in the country. However, Raghav (Raj Bhansali), the orphanage bully, hates him and feels that if Karan did not have the magic bat he would have never made it to the cricket team. Raghav now wants the magic bat at any cost. Karan and Varun develop a strong emotional bond deeper than fellow cricketers. Karan has no parents and Varun has parents, but is estranged with his father and does not want to accept him. Karan strongly believes that parents are the best gift endowed by God and succeeds in uniting Varun with his father. At the final 5th one day match between India and Pakistan, events spiral out of control and Karan's magic bat is destroyed by Raghav. Karan is a nervous wreck, but Varun makes him realize that faith in oneself counts beyond anything else. With Karan's help, India wins the match. After the match, Karan decides to stop playing and rejoin the team when he is older. Varun and his girlfriend, Malini (Meera Vasudevan) decide to adopt Karan.

Neal est un jeune garçon d'origine Indienne qui est né et a grandi au Canada, mais qui ne s'est jamais rendu en Inde. C'est un vrai playboy, toutes les filles l'adulent et lui courent après. Ses parents décident un jour de le marier avec une jeune fille honorable du pays. La future est déjà choisie et s'appelle Sweety. Neal n'est pas vraiment d'accord, mais reconnaît qu'aucune de ses conquêtes n'est digne de respect. Il met une condition à son futur mariage, celle de passer les vacances à Vancouver, pour s'offrir du bon temps une dernière fois. Il rencontre une fois arrivé sur place une sublime top model ainsi qu'une jeune fille Indienne délurée et portée sur la bouteille, Nikki. Celle-ci, ivre, demande à Neal de la ramener chez elle. En gentleman qu'il est, il accepte, mais la conduit en chemin dans un hôtel mal famé et se retrouve arrêté pour attentat à la pudeur. Le lendemain Nikki le contacte pour en savoir davantage sur ce qui s'est réellement passé et lui fait une deuxième fois manquer son coup avec le top model. Neal fait alors connaissance avec une Indienne très chaude, et là encore, Nikki surgit et compromet cette nouvelle occasion. Décidément, elle ne le laissera pas enterrer tranquillement sa vie de garçon. Ils finissent finalement par s'attacher l'un à l'autre jusqu'à ce que Neal découvre que Nikki est la cousine de Sweety .

Karan vient la voir en prison, la rassure et lui procure un avocat. Celui-ci lui recommande de taire sa relation avec Karan et de tout avouer car il n'y a aucune preuve contre elle. Ayant suivi ces conseils, Sarika est condamnée à une lourde peine.

In troubled Kashmir reside the Kaul family, consisting of Major Amrish, his wife Sudha, a son, Ajay, and a daughter. Ajay meets with two accidents on his motorcycle due to the carelessness of Neha Pandit, this leads to their meeting again, and both fall in love. Ajay finds out that Neha has been widowed, but this does not deter him, and he convinces her father-in-law R.K. Sharma to bless them, which he does so. Shortly after his approval, Neha is abducted by terrorists headed by Juded Afghani, who demand the release of their accomplice Naved Rabhani, and in exchange of Neha, Ms. Anita Choudhary the daughter of India's Home Minister's Bhagwat Choudhary. Ajay must abduct Anita if he is to ever see Neha alive again, but amongst Anita's bodyguard is Major Amrish Kaul, who have now re-located to New Zealand. Ajay travels to New Zealand, and does abduct Anita, only to find out that he is nothing more than a pawn in the hands of terrorists, and Neha herself, who is not what she claims to be. She's also a terrorist. Then Ajay tries to set things right and he finally kills all the terrorist including Neha and saves Anita.

Rani Maa's(Reena Roy) husband is killed by the neighboring kingdom's evil Prime Minister Man Singh (Naseeruddin Shah). The Prime Minister absolves himself from this killing and blames it on the king, the father of Rajkumari Vishaka (Madhuri Dixit). Rani Maa swears to avenge the death against the Rajkumari. Man Singh also has a twin brother, Surjan Singh (also Naseeruddin Shah) who is not evil at all albeit a little naive. Rani Maa is shocked and aghast when she finds out that her only son, Rajkumar (Anil Kapoor) is in love with Rajkumari. She sets out to oppose this marriage, while Rajkumar will leave no stone unturned to marry Rajkumari. The stage is set for mother and son to decide whether it is in their best interest to include someone in the family, who has killed a husband and a father respectively.
