Sulochana Latkar (born 30 July 1928),at Khadaklat village of Chikodi taluk and Belgaum District in karnataka. Mostly known by her screen name Sulochana, is a well-known actress of Marathi and Hindi cinema, who is most known for her performances in 250 Marathi films, like Vahinichya Bangdya, Meeth Bhakar and Dhakti Jau, in Hindi cinema, she epitomized 'mother' roles, as did Nirupa Roy in the 1970s and the early 1980s.
In 2003, she was awarded the Chitrabhushan Award instituted by the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Baburao Painter, one of the founders of the modern Marathi cinema.
In 2009, she was awarded the Maharashtra Bhushan Award by the Government of Maharashtra.
She now stays at Prabha Devi, Mumbai.

Aarti Verma (Rekha) is a widow with two children. She is an unattractive woman with a large birthmark on her face. Aarti's husband died in a car accident under mysterious circumstances, and her father (Saeed Jaffrey) is one of the richest and most famous businessmen in the city. However, when Aarti's father is murdered by his worker Hiralal (Kader Khan), Aarti's world is completely destroyed. She does not find any sense for her life, except bringing up her children. Hiralal pretends to be a friend, and takes care of her like a father. He brings his poor nephew Sanjay (Kabir Bedi) from abroad, who is also the lover of Aarti's best friend Nandini (Sonu Walia). Although Nandini loves Aarti, she is intensely in love with Sanjay, and after he requests her to help him, she finally agrees to help him rob Aarti of her wealth.

Vishal and Jyoti both spent their childhood in different manner from each other but they fall in love, and in spite of stiff oppositions from their parents they get married. After marriage, they have misunderstandings with each other frequently. These problems persist even when Jyoti gives birth to healthy baby boy, Lucky (Master Lucky). Vishal is a jockey by profession and rides a horse since years and thereby wins many races. Due to failing health, Vishal has been advised by his doctor not to ride anymore and so Vishal stops riding the horse but continues to own the same horse. Meanwhile, Jyoti also leaves Vishal due to the constant fights between them and Lucky grows up and lives with his dad. He is brought up to think that his mom has died. So when Jyoti re-enters his life, she is introduced to him as his "aunty". Will Lucky ever come to know of his real mother? Will Vishal ever to able to ride again? Will Jyoti and Vishal patch up their differences in the interest of their son? these questions form the rest of the story.

The film focuses on the caste and feudal system in Rajasthan. Ranjit Singh is the son of a peasant living in a village which is dominated by a rich landlord family. As a teenager studying in the village school, Ranjit is rebellious and defiant. He is bullied by the two sons of the landlord, who are of his own age. Two girls who also study in the same school are sympathetic to Ranjit. These are the daughter of the school-master and the daughter of the rich landlord (sister of the bullies). Sick of the exp;itation he sees around him, Ranjit runs away to the city.

Ajay Sharma (Dharmendra), is a Police Inspector of notable wealth. He is happily married to Asha (Rekha) with two children. Anil and Shobha are in love and are about to get married. Anil goes abroad for a while. He returns after one year and finds that Shobha has married a rich man, JK. He is unaware that Shobha has done this to save the life of his sister, Vinnie. Vinnie was about to become a mother before marriage. She had only one choice of saving Vinnie's life, it was to marry JK. Only then he would release Vinnie's love, Rakesh. So, Shobha convinces Anil's mother to let Vinnie marry the one she loves. But Anil thinks that she got married to JK because he is a rich man. Anil takes a trip somewhere else to forget her. There, he falls in love with a girl named Sona. Meanwhile, JK keeps embarrassing Shobha every time. When JK subsequently gets to know that he might die due to too much intake of alcohol, he grows nice with Shobha, and soon they fall in love. Anil gets married to Sona while JK dies. Anil thinks its Shobha's punishment of what she did that killed JK. But then Anil comes to know the truth and visits her. She is pregnant with JK's baby. One day Anil meets her in the hospital but Sona sees them and she misunderstands their relation. She has a car accident and is soon admitted in the hospital. The doctor says that she is all right but she cannot have a baby. That night Anil tells the truth about Shobha to his mother and Sona. Suddenly Shobha appears she gives her own baby to Sona. She says that it is her all fault that Sona couldn't have a baby. Shobha had consumed a bottle of poison before coming to Anil's house. She is soon dead.
