Fred goes into music class to find his favourite teacher, Mrs. Felson, has been replaced by a teacher named Mr. Devlin. Walking home from school, Fred notices a strange girl named Talia following him. Fred believes he is being stalked, but the girl just walks the same way to school as him. Spying on Devlin that night, Fred sees him burying something, which he suspects is the body of Mrs. Felson. Kevin's mother invites Fred and his mother to a party for Mr. Devlin. At the party, Fred's mother falls for Mr. Devlin, and Fred learns that Talia is actually Kevin's sister.

Lors des Jeux olympiques d'hiver en 2002, deux patineurs rivaux, James McEllroy, sportif talentueux adopté dès son plus jeune âge par un milliardaire dénicheur de talents, et Chazz Michael Michaels, tout aussi talentueux et également habile, mais accro au sexe, s'affrontent lors de la compétition dans la catégorie simple messieurs. Ces derniers, ne se supportant pas, obtiennent la médaille d'or ex-æquo. Mais ils se battent sur le podium et passent en commission disciplinaire, qui les bannissent définitivement de la compétition. Après cette incartade, James est renié par son père adoptif. Trois ans et demi plus tard, James est devenu un simple employé d'un magasin d'articles sportifs d'hiver, tandis que Chazz, ayant un peu de poids, est devenu patineur sur glace dans un spectacle pour enfants, jouant dans un état d'ébriété avancé.

Jimmy Roberts (Dominic Janes) is a 12-year-old boy who can't seem to say "no" to anybody, and as a result, ends up getting taken advantage of on a regular basis, even by his best friend Craig (Micah Karns). This problem continues during his class trip to Gollyworld, where he misses out on many of the rides because Craig tells the popular kids that Jimmy will hold their items for them. The popular kids then, on Craig's suggestion, tell Jimmy to go try to find Milt Appleday's frozen brain, which supposedly is hidden somewhere in Tux's Arctic Adventure. As usual, Jimmy unwillingly gives in, and once there, bumps into Milt's middle-age clumsy son Sonny (Matt Knudsen), who is attempting to retrieve the brain from underneath the ice. After being spotted by Sonny, Jimmy quickly flees and during his escape, accidentally runs onto the path of an oncoming train and is sent to the hospital, where Milt's brain (which one of the doctors keeps in his lunch cooler) is transplanted into his head. He makes it out of the operation just fine with his personality intact (explained by the doctors salvaging his "personality gland") but, he can now see all of Appleday's characters in real life, while no one else can.

Melvin is a onetime medical student who has dropped out of medical training and now works (after a fashion) in a planning office of an unnamed city; the office supervisor is his big sister, so she "mothers" him instead of making him perform well. Melvin accidentally makes telephone contact with an old friend, and they decide to meet that evening for dinner. The friend decides to arrive early at the restaurant for drinks with a lady friend. By the time the dinner appointment arrives, there are 4 people involved, all of them connected in some way to at least one of the other parties. The evening passes in a leisurely dinner with much conversation, sometimes intimate. The connections between the parties are revealed throughout the evening. The movie includes several flashbacks, which at the start are not explained but which become understandable by the end.
