The film sees US Deputy Marshal Dan Lawson teaming up with RCMP Sergeant Gray to go undercover and capture the nefarious smuggler Bart Randall. Lawson, posing as an outlaw called Laramie, is ready to infiltrate the gang led by Randall, a self-styled Gun Emperor of the Northwest, who is wanted for murder and bank robbery in the United States. In addition to the difficulties inherent in the mission, Lawson has other issues to deal with, including the use of a fake totem and flying a hydra plane to overawe the menacing Indians and regenade whites. He also is aided in his search by Donna Blaine, who is suspected at first of giving information to Randall, but who in reality is a Canadian secret agent investigating Randall's illegal gun trading with the Indians.

A would-be dictator and scientist, known only as The Phantom Ruler, has developed a formula which, when sprayed on some solid object, renders that object and everything it contains invisible when exposed to rays emitted by a special lamp, also his own invention. Covered from head to toe in formula-treated cloth, he thus moves about unseen, presently with the objective of stealing enough money and formula components to render an entire army of willing followers invisible. Two henchmen assist him, along with several illegal aliens smuggled into the US by him and used to infiltrate, as employees, possible sites for him to later rob while invisible. When he successfully robs a bank vault, an investigator from the bank's insuror teams up with a woman police detective to solve the mystery of the money which to all outside appearances has just vanished. Tracking clues and interrupting other attempts by the Phantom Ruler to commit crimes, the protagonists round up enough evidence that they are not merely dealing with an ordinary crime ring. Eventually they discover the invisibility fluid and lamp, and the Phantom Ruler is killed when he trips over an open high-power electric cable he had laid on the floor of his den to do in the forces of law and order closing in upon him.

Éleveurs dans le nord du Texas, les frères Cloud, Tom et Jeff, trouvent le cadavre d'un de leurs rares cow-boys, Juan, dissimulé sous un buisson. Propriétaires d'un ranch et de bétail convoités par beaucoup de concurrents, ils rapportent l'assassinat au shérif mais ce dernier refuse de les aider car ils se sont installés volontairement sur des terres désirées par d'autres cavaliers qui n'hésitent pas à les intimider. Lorsque les frères retournent au ranch, ils y découvrent leur aîné qu'ils détestent cordialement, James alias "Kid Wichita". Ce dernier est réputé pour sa gâchette facile et sa violence désinvolte. D'abord réticent, Tom accepte de l'héberger car il n'a plus d'hommes de main pour l'aider à s'occuper de son troupeau. Mais James intensifie la guerre entre Tom et les autres rangers en volant les bêtes de ses voisins pour gonfler son cheptel tandis que Jeff, le plus jeune des trois, subit la mauvaise influence de "Kid Wichita" au point de suivre son exemple, ce qui inquiète Tom. Mais il est encore plus énervé lorsqu'il découvre que James tourne autour de sa maîtresse, la belle Kathleen qui n'est pas insensible au charme de "Kid Wichita".
