DeAndre Cortez Way (born July 28, 1990), better known by his stage name Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, or simply Soulja Boy, is an American rapper, record producer, actor and entrepreneur.

In September 2007, his single "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. The single was initially self-published on the internet, and it later became a number-one hit in the United States for seven non-consecutive weeks starting in September 2007. On August 17 Way was listed at number 18 on the Forbes list of Hip-Hop Cash Kings of 2010 earning $7 million for that year.

Way has currently released three studio albums and one independent album: his debut studio album (2007) was certified platinum by the RIAA. However, his next two albums, iSouljaBoyTellem (2008) and The DeAndre Way (2010) did not match the commercial success of his debut, the latter only selling 100,000 copies, despite the success of several singles across both albums, such as "Kiss Me Thru the Phone" and "Turn My Swag On" (iSouljaBoyTellem) and "Pretty Boy Swag" (The DeAndre Way).

Way released his fifth studio album titled Blessed, which was released online via internet July 28, 2015.

Legal issues
On December 9, 2007, Way was sued by William Lyons (a.k.a. Souljah Boy of Mo Thugs Family) who created the stage name Souljah Boy in 1996.

On October 7, 2009, Way was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, on one count of obstruction, a misdemeanor, for running from police when he'd been ordered to stop while filming a video in an abandoned house. The rapper was released on $550 bond.

In May 2011, Way and his labels were sued by a local Pennsylvania promoter for failing to make promised payments in connection with a rescheduled concert.

On October 18, 2011, Way was traveling west on I-20 in Carroll County, Georgia, with four other men when their vehicle was pulled over for a vehicle equipment violation. The police officer who made the stop searched the vehicle and found more than five ounces of marijuana. Way was arrested and released on bond during the same day.

On January 22, 2014, Way was a passenger in his vehicle when the driver ran a stop sign in the San Fernando Valley, California. After it was pulled over, cops discovered that Way had a loaded handgun in the car. He was then arrested immediately and taken to jail. However, his manager claimed that a neighbor left the gun under the car seat, meanwhile Way was left unaware that it was there. Way only admitted to owning the vehicle, not the weapon to the police.

On February 15, 2014, Soulja Boy announced via Twitter that he was going to jail in five days time. He did not confirm the reason as to why, although it could possibly stem from the January 2014 arrest when cops found a loaded gun in Soulja Boy's car. Soulja ultimately never appeared to turn himself in to authorties and the details of his charges are unknown.

On December 30, 2008, Way was robbed and battered in his home. Initial reports indicated that the robbers were six masked men with AK-47s and pistols but on December 31, 2008, videos surfaced on the Internet of two masked men claiming sole credit for the crime. Soulja Boy described the incident to MTV News a month later: He had come home very late at night after attending an album release party and was recording songs with friends when the robbers came in pointing their guns. On January 26, 2009 during another interview Way would speak on the incident clarifying that it was three robbers and not six stating "I got back to my house at around 3 in the morning and I was in the studio recording. So two of my homeboys was in the living room and Me and Arab we was in the studio recording. And somebody kicked in the door. One dude ran in put the AK to my homeboy head, put him on the floor, he continued. The other two ran in my homeboy jumped in the other room, so the other two dudes ran back so I peeped in the door and they running through my house with K's and pistol's so I ducked back. I really can't dwell on what happened after that, but it was a messed up situation and I’m glad everyone made it out alive." On October 14, 2010 during another interview Way would go more in depth on the incident where he admitted to shooting at the robbers even hitting two of them stating "I'm thinking if I shoot this n****, I can get that gun and shoot all these n****'s at the same time. So I jumped out, shot at the dude four times and missed. He ducked down and ran. He started yelling, so I shot him like two more times. Then he turned around and started running. So I popped his a** like two more times in the back and he hit the floor." Way would also go on to clarify during the interview that he and his label at the time Interscope Records didn't want anybody to know that he had shot somebody due to his younger fanbase at the time stating "I really didn’t want nobody to know that I shot somebody. My label didn't want that out there because when the robbery went down I had fans like 9, 10 years old. But being that I'm 20, I don't give a f*** no more. Ain't nobody take s*** from me that night." In 2011 on Way's documentary movie Soulja Boy: The Movie during an interview Way's close friend/manager/Stacks on Deck Entertainment president Miami Mike would speak on the incident revealing and clarifying that two of the three robbers were members of the rap group Show Stoppas a rap group Way had signed on his label Stacks on Deck Entertainment back in 2008 and Miami Mike would also go on to clarify that he had warned Way about them before the incident and had also told Way he needed to go protect himself stating "and it was real ugly, to make a long story short, Soulja Boy wasn't in the hospital you know what i'm saying, it was two of them they were held in the hospital, it was two members out the group the Show Stoppas, it was a group he had signed upon his label S.O.D. but it wasn't the whole group. I had warned Soulja Boy about these guys prior to this incident, I said Soulja those dudes are not your friends, So I said man dog them dudes they crooked man don't hang around them, they crooked, I said Soulja you need to keep a gun in every room you know what i'm saying, go to target practices, man you play gears of war you need to go get you a real gun and learn how to use it, you a celebrity now and you staying in this big house by yourself, we was trying to keep this stuff out the public eyesight because we want to keep this clear image of Soulja doing the little dance and stuff but it was so much going on behind close doors and when these guys suppose to be his friends broke into his house it just was ugly man, he shot one of them five times man."

On the night of March 22, 2011, Way's little brother Deion Jenkins was killed in a car crash.

Monica said's a word that offends Jacque, which makes her get out of her seat to fight Monica. Then walks in Headmaster Jones (Angie Stone), her daughters Gibby and Gabi (Kristen Combs and Gabi Wilson) and her niece Daisy just before anything happened's . Headmaster Jones puts the girls on trash duty for a mouth and puts them and the same room. When the girls go out to pick up trash Monica see a guy named Colin (Mathias Anderle) who she has a crush on who goes out with the head cheerleader Bambi Lockwood (Lindsay Taylor). Mandy tells them he sneezed on her when they met. When Bambi see's Colin talking to Monica, she goes over to insult her calling her a "wanna-be-me" and pours Gatorade on Jacque's jacket. The scene moves to them performing (Detention). The girls decide to take away Bambi's popularity by entering the "Stuntin Party" and to meet Mandy and Jacque's crushes Justin Bieber and Soulja Boy. The next day the girls sign up for the talent show. Bambi then tells them they will have to pay a $100 fee for each act and they are not on her level, they begin a dance off in performing(What Goes Around). When Daisy leaves and forgets her keys the girls use them to break into the art room to decorate their room performing (Just a Kiss). Monica leaves the room to make a phone call to ask her mother for $300.00 to perform in the talent show, but then it turns out her mother needs the money. She then over hears Colin playing the guitar. He tells her sorry for Bambi and Monica said's it's no problem. When Bambi over hears Monica tell him her real name, she breaks into the office to look at Monica's file while the song (Something About Him) is on. The next day Monica is on the phone who she seems to be talking to Beyonce. When Bambi ask to speak to her Monica playes it off and said's the call got dropped, Bambi snatches the phone out of her hand to revile the phone was never on. She has her friend Claire (Jessica Jarrell) record everything on the phone. Bambi reviles the Monica is not rich but in fact poor, and the reason she is in the school is because she has a scholarship and makes good grades. She then calls her a bunch of names and tells her to "leave like her father did". Monica goes to the girls room to cry singing (I'm Not Just a Girl), while this is happening Bambi uploads the video on the internet for everyone to see. Back at the room Mandy and Jacque try to cheer Monica up, then Claire walks in feeling bad for what happened and wanted to help them by giving them bad pictures of Bambi. They then have a dance battle with Bambi's crew while performing (Get Like Me). The School Gyrls then win the battle and take the trophy.
