Shobhan Babu About this sound pronunciation (January 14, 1937 – March 20, 2008) was an Indian film actor in Telugu cinema. He made his film debut with Daivabalam, directed by Vasanthkumar Reddy, but Bhakta Shabari was released earlier. In a career spanning two decades, he played versatile roles in various genre. He has garnered five Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Awards and four Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu). He received the Rashtrapati Award for his performance in the 1969 film Bangaru Panjaram.

Balaramaiah (Sobhan Babu) is the head of the village, his word is an ordinance to villagers. He leaves with his wife Vasumathi (Srividya) and daughter Pooja (Rajeevi), but he strictly adheres to the caste. That's why he get read of his brother Krishna Murthy (Dr. Rajashekhar) and sister Seeta (Kalpana) because father is same to both of them, but Krishna Murthy's mother is from a lower caste. So Balaramaiah always ignores Krishna Murthy and both of them leaves by making participation of their house. Shivaji (Jagapati Babu) brother-in-law (son of maternal uncle) to Krishna Murthy comes to the village, for his help and Krishna Murthy gives shelter to him in his house. Shivaji falls in love with Pooja. Balaramaiah comes to know about this and he makes arrangements for Pooja's marriage with Antharvedi (Tanikella Bharani), son of Chintamani (Gollapudi Maruthi Rao) who always makes clashes between Balaramaiah & Krishna Murthy. At the end Balaramaiah realizes his mistake with the advice of Vasumati, accepts Krishna Murthy as his brother and a happy ending by rejoining the entire family.

The story begins with four friends Ram Murthy (Satyanarayana) hotel Server, Damodaram (Rao Gopal Rao) Photographer, Kotaiah (Nutan Prasad) Chariot Rider, Bhadraiah (Bheemiswara Rao) bandmaster. Ram Murthy happy with his wife and two sons Raja and Sandeep, Damodaram has a son Siva, even Raja & Siva are also close friends, BBhadraiah has two daughters Lata and Rani. When the ticket turns out to be a winner, Damodaram and Kotaiah turn on the other two, murdering Bhadraiah and framing Ram Murthy goes on the run but Kotaiah and Damodaram intervene and throw him over a bridge into a river and soon after Ram Murthy wife also dies in an accident and his two children are taken care by Mary (Sumitra) whom Ram Murthy looks as her own sister, along With her daughter Julie.

Jeevana Poratam is the story about the mismanagement and selfishness of the leaders of India. Vijayasanthi and Sobhan are related and love each other..Meanwhile vijayasanthi gets a job in Sarat babu's office and sarat babu loves her. Vijaysanthi slowly falls for Sarat Babu seeing his wealth and neglects Sobhan Babu. She even gets engaged to Sarat Babu. At this time, Radhika enters his life. Due to circumstances, Sobhan Babu joins hands with Rao Gopalrao and becomes rich. Rajinikanth comes at this time and helps his brother to leave the bad people and everything ends well with Vijayasanthi losing her life in the course.

Gummadi and Sivakrishna are brothers. Shivakrishna is a socialist and wants to spend the property for the poor, whereas Gummadi is a very selfish man. Their differences lead to the death of Sivakrishna as planned by Raogopal Rao, Allu and Chalapati Rao. Chakravarthi (Sobhan Babu) is the son of Gummadi and Tilak (Krishna) is the son of Sivakrishna. Tilak joins as a worker in the company of Gummadi. Jayaprada is the niece of Gummadi and she falls in love with Tilak. Chakravarthi loves Sridevi, daughter of a teacher in their company. Chiru acted as a villain in this Sobhan-Sridevi starrer under the direction of KRR for the first time in his career. Sobhan babu and sridevi, who are in love with each other plan to marry soon. Chiru is a local rowdysheeter in their area who has a relationship with sridevi’s twin sister(dual role). Sridevi tries to keep herself away from his twin sister’s life style and sobhan decides to give her new life by marrying her. But, chiru has his eyes on sridevi also,but gets bashed up by sobhan few times. He develops personal grudge against them.Oneday, when sobhan and sridevi are about to get married in a temple,chiru spots her alone waiting for sobhan and he rapes her. Unable to bear this humiliation, she commits suicide and before she dies, sobhan reaches there and he vows to take revenge. In the end, sobhan kills chiru and is sentenced to death, and we are shown that sobhan meets sridevi in heaven.
