Scott Lowell est né à Denver au Colorado le 22 février 1965, et a grandi dans le Connecticut. Il est diplômé de l’Université du Connecticut en théâtre, et a étudié l’Art Dramatique au National Theatre Institute.Avant de déménager pour Los Angeles, il avait eu une carrière théâtrale à Chicago (10 années), en jouant dans des productions comme Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Assassins, Light Up The Sky, Un chant de Noël, Chicago Conspiracy Trial et A Perfect Ganesh.

In 1968, America was divided over the Vietnam War. Due to the growing anti-war movement, President Lyndon B. Johnson announced that he would not run for re-election. Democrat Robert Kennedy, the Presidential hopeful, was assassinated that summer. The Democratic National Convention was held in Chicago where leaders of the anti-war movement planned a protest. During the protest, Chicago Mayor Daley used police force to brutally quell the rally, and as a result, rioting broke out in the streets. One person was killed, hundreds were injured and thousands were arrested. One year later, newly elected President Richard Nixon gave the green light to prosecute eight men who were accused of conspiracy to incite a riot. The FBI brought them to Chicago, where they stood trial. They were known thereafter as The Chicago 8.

Christopher Wang is a young man (25 years old) who lives under his Asian-American parents in a suburb in southern California. His father, who was a prominent ping pong player in his youth, owns a sports goods shop, and his mother teaches young children at the sport at the local community center. Outperformed by his older brother, Michael, who is considered by their parents as more mature and responsible and have brought pride to the family by winning regional ping pong tournaments, Chris seems to lack motivation and a realistic vision for his career, indulging in defeating young kids in sports and playing video games.
