Montana Rivers quitte son père Lee Holly qui la forçait à porter des vêtements d'homme et à l'aider à voler et à tricher aux cartes. Elle est recueillie dans un village d'Indiens où elle prend le nom de Tana. Plus tard, Akkomi, le chef de la tribu, demande à son ami Dan Overton d'emmener la jeune femme car ce n'est pas bon pour elle de rester dans leur campement. Dan s'occupe d'elle et en tombe amoureux, mais elle, à cause de son passé, garde ses distances. Jim Harris reconnaît Tana comme étant le jeune voleur, mais, dans une bagarre, Dan lui donne un coup qui le paralyse en partie. Jim reste avec Dan, qui regrette sa précipitation. Un jour, Holly arrive et demande qu'elle vienne avec lui. Elle refuse mais ne dit rien à Dan. Mais en fait Jim attendait de se venger d'Holly, qui était parti avec sa femme et son bébé, et arrive à l'étrangler. Jim apprend alors à Tana qu'elle est sa fille.

Based upon a description in a film publication, Molly Shine (Sweet) is a simple girl who likes her books, and lives with a drinking father (Grimwood) and weeping mother (Kelso). One day she meets the young Duke (Meredith) who falls in love with her and marries her, astonishing her parents who do not believe it until they see the marriage certificate. After the marriage she faces the problems of all who marry outside of their class. The Duke's sister Lady Octavia (Lester) tries to snub her at every turn, resulting in Molly's dejection and which to leave. When an opportunity presents itself, she attempts to escape but fate returns her to her husband in a peculiar but pleasing way.

Burke, en route pour la prison pour un meurtre qu'il n'a pas commis, arrive à s'évader et trouve un travail sur un bateau dans la salle des machines. Sur ce bateau, voyagent également le juge Wray, qui l'a condamné, Jocelyn, sa fille âgée de 10 ans, et Jack Ronsdale, qui le reconnaît à cause d'un tatouage. Burke est alors mis aux fers mais s'échappe lors d'une tempête. Au cours de son évasion, il sauve la vie de Jocelyn, qui était passée par-dessus bord. Ronsdale le rejette à l'eau et le croit noyé. Burke, qui a réussi à nager jusqu'à une île voisine, y découvre des livres de droit épargnés par la tempête et commence à les étudier.

As described in a film magazine, Octavia Bassett (Martin) of Bloody Gulch, after a breakup with her sweetheart, decides to visit her Aunt Belinda (Wolfe) in Slowbridge. Her apparel and automobile shock the inhabitants of Slowbridge, and tongues are set wagging at the musicale of Lady Theobald (Crowell). Octavia matches wits with Captain Barold (Gerrald). Lady Theobald is anxious for the Caption to marry her niece Lucia (Busch). However, Lucia loves Mr. Burmistone (Paget), a "common" mill owner. Just as Octavia has decided that she will marry the Captain, her father and Jack Belasys (MacLean), her ex-fiance, arrive in Slowbridge. The pleasure of seeing Jack and knowing that she can return to Bloody Gulch reunite Jack and Octavia.
