Robert Coogan (December 13, 1924 — May 12, 1978) was an American film and television actor.
Starting as a child actor, Robert Coogan made his film debut as Sooky in Skippy (1931), a comedy-drama family film which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. He also reprised the role of Sooky in its sequel Sooky (1931). In addition to his appearance in Skippy, Coogan appeared in over one dozen other films and made one appearance in a television production. Coogan continued acting in adulthood, but only with minor success. He also portrayed the role of Humphrey Pennyworth in the Joe Palooka B-movies.

Robert Coogan was born Robert Anthony Coogan in Glendale, California, to parents Jack Coogan Sr. and Lillian Coogan. His older brother was Jackie Coogan, perhaps Hollywood's most famous child star of the 1920s. Coogan's nephew is stereographer and 3D producer Anthony Coogan and his grand-nephew Keith Coogan is also an actor.Starting as a child actor, Robert Coogan made his film debut as Sooky in Skippy (1931), a comedy-drama family film which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. After Slip is drafted into the Marines, the rest of the gang volunteers so they can be with him. Sach discovers that the colonel knew his father and he is promoted. During a drill that he is putting the rest of the gang through, they find a soldier left for dead on the side of the road. Slip discovers a playing card next to the marine and traces it to Jolly Joe Johnson's gambling house. They suspect that the gambling house is cheating and set out to uncover the proof. They enter the gambling house late at night, but are discovered by Jolly Joe and his gang. A fight ensues, but two Marine intelligence officers arrive in time to arrest the criminals. Sach, having been framed for having a girl in the barracks is stripped of his promotions, but a new colonel is now in charge and fought with a soldier named Mahoney. Slip claims that was his father and he is promoted and promptly gets even with Sach by taking him on a long drill.

After Slip discovers a spiritualist in the neighborhood, he enlists the boys to investigate. They discover that she is a fake and working for Margo the Medium, a radio star who has convinced Sach and Whitey that ghosts exist. They go to her place using Louie as a decoy. While she is busy trying to connect to Louie's dead uncle, the rest of the boys investigate the house. A real ghost, Edgar, befriends Sach and helps him investigate as well. Although the others cannot see Edgar, he does help them in times of crisis and helps them uncover Margo's scam.

Sach, after eating too much candy develops a toothache which allows him to predict the future. Slip and Gabe come up with an idea to make money off of this and put him in a side show carnival. A mad scientist sees Sach's photo in the newspaper and reads about his ability and decides to visit the carnival. After seeing Sach in action he decides to kidnap him so he can transfer his brain into the brain of Atlas, a humanoid creature.

Sixteen-year-old actress Ann Winters (Jane Withers), who has been a movie star since childhood, declares that she no longer wants to play "childish" roles. Her attitude irritates her agent, Harry Fabian (William Demarest), who tells her that the studio has decided that her next picture will be Ann of Honeysuckle Farm, in which she is to play a twelve-year-old. Ann leaves a note for her sympathetic secretary, "Biggy" Biggsworth (Ruth Donnelly), saying that she does not want a career if she cannot have a life, too, then runs away for a two-week vacation. Just then, innocent Penny Ryan (also Jane Withers) from Oriole, Nebraska, arrives. Penny is the winner of a contest concocted by Harry in which the fan who most resembles Ann gets to spend two weeks with her in her home. Harry and Biggy are stunned by Penny's appearance, for she is an exact double for Ann. Harry decides to induce Penny to impersonate Ann, who is to start her new film the next day or else be suspended by the studio.

The film starts in Chinatown. Harry Evans (Ned Sparks) is a pickpocket, and he passes the Frog (John Wray), who is pretending to be a cripple. Harry gives the Frog a watch, which he just stole from a man. The Frog, who crawls, is almost hit by a car. The guests on the car are guests traveling to Chinatown for New Year's, and some give money to the Frog, convinced he is hurt. After while a young woman, Helen (Sylvia Sidney) is given a seat by a gentleman. She then tries to pick money out of this man's pocket, and she flees with the money, and he soon catches up to her. In tears, she tells him that her mother has died, and she has no money, he then contributes a few dollars, and soon the public, watching, gives her money. She returns to the apartment later that night, and is visited by friends; the Frog, and Harry Evans. As they start counting money, the door opens, outside of it, is leader Doc Madison (Chester Morris), who was the man who Helen tried taking money from, as a scheme.

Bert "Speed" Condon (Richard Arlen) is the star of the "Speed Condon Flying Circus". Skippy (Jackie Cooper) is the feisty son of the strictly Dr. Herbert Skinner (Willard Robertson) and his wife Ellen (Enid Bennett). Skinner forbids his son Skippy to play in the pauperized Shantytown, because of the unhygenical and criminal surroundings there. But Skippy and his friend Sidney (Jackie Searl) still go to Shantytown whrere sidney meets a new boy named Sooky (Robert Coogan, Jackie Coogan's little brother). He saves the small boy Sooky from the much bigger bully Harley Nubbins (Donald Haines). Skippy and Sooky become friends. One day Harley accidentally breaks the windshield of his father's car with Skippy's yo-yo. Harley, who has a very aggressive and brute father, blames it on Skippy and Sooky. Mr. Nubbins (Jack Rube Clifford), who works as a dog catcher, takes Sooky's dog and demands that they pay him for the damages if they want their dog back. The boys gather three dollars by breaking Skippy's savings bank, but Mr. Nubbins accepts it only for his windshield. He gives them three days for getting another three dollars for a dog license and he threatens that he'll kill their dog if they don't get the money.
