On 24 November 2007, Muldoon helped Labor Candidate Maxine McKew to oust the sitting member for Bennelong, former Prime Minister John Howard.He is married and has a young daughter, Lottie. He lives in Katoomba, NSW, a town west of Sydney.

En 1968, en Australie, trois sœurs aborigènes : Gail, Julie, Cynthia et leur cousine Kay, sont découvertes par Dave, un musicien irlandais au caractère bien trempé, amateur de whisky et de soul music. Dave remanie le répertoire du groupe, rebaptisé « The Sapphires ». Le groupe, et Dave devenu leur imprésario, se rend à une audition où les quatre filles sont engagées pour divertir les troupes américaines en guerre au Viêt Nam. On apprend que Kay est une métisse à la peau claire, enlevée alors qu'elle était enfant par l'administration australienne pour être élevée comme une blanche, une pratique massivement pratiquée jusqu'en 1969 environ. Par là, le film dénonce le phénomène des « générations volées ».

Danny Morgan (Ifans) works as a concrete maker driver and construction worker who lives in a big Australian city with his girlfriend but is unhappy with his life.
