Priyanandanan started in career as an actor in stage shows. He used to act mostly female roles during the early part of his career. Later he ventured into direction of stage shows. He used to be known as Priyan Vallachira at that time.
Priyanandanan started his career in movies as assistant director to popular film makers P. T. Kunju Muhammed and K. R. Mohanan. His first movie was Neythukaran (2001) and it told the story of a weaver, a supporter of E. M. S. who dies the next day after his idol dies. Malayalam actor Murali won the National Award for the Best Actor for this film.

Priyanandanan is a native of Vallachira in Thrissur District, Kerala. He was born as the son of Poochinippadam Thottipparambil Ramakrishnan and Kochammini. He is married to Ajitha and has two childran, Aparna and Ashwaghosh.Priyanandanan started in career as an actor in stage shows. He used to act mostly female roles during the early part of his career. Later he ventured into direction of stage shows. He used to be known as Priyan Vallachira at that time.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ratheesh Vasudevan (Mohanlal), tries to solve the murder of Anoop C V (Fahadh Faasil), a part-time actor in local plays. During the investigation, Vasudevan learns that the victim was involved in Leftist activities and opted for helping the local population rather than using his engineering degree to get a well paying job, Ramesh (Asif Ali) is a local vendor who is in debt and Navas (Saiju Kurup) is a friend of Anoop who makes films for advertisements.

Scene No: 001 tells the life of Chandramohan (Saiju Kurup) a promising young film director and Priya(Ropasree) an upcoming actress. Chandramohan falls in love with Priya and marries her. Priya quits acting after the marriage. Chandramohan did not get any directing chance after his marriage. He writes a script and searches for a producer. He finds a producer but the producer demands to have Priya as the heroine. Chandramohan has no other choice and accepts the demand. But, when the shoot was to commence, the producer rejects Chandramohan's script and asks him to direct a film based on another script. How the shooting goes on from there and the problems faced by Chandramohan forms the rest of the story.

Kari Gurukkal, also known as Pulimaranja Thondachan (the great grandfather who turned into tiger), is a folk god of Pulayas, a subaltern community in North Kerala. According to legends, Kari was a master of martial arts and other arts. Envious, the upper caste people ordered him to bring tiger mane and tail to cure the madness of the ruler. For this, he had to take the tiger form and go to the forest. To get his human form back when he returns from the forest, his wife should pour water used for cleaning rice and beat him with broom. But when he returns from the forest, his wife got terrified by his form and fails to do what she was told to do. Unable to take human form, Kari goes back to the forest.

EMS, the leader of the first ever democratically elected Communist Government is dead (His death was on the same day, which the BJP lead Government came to power in the centre. This coincidence strengthened the mystic cloud around the man called EMS among his friends). Appa Mestry (Murali), a veteran Communist, who lives in the nostalgia of 'those great days', is unable to believe that EMS has died. For him EMS is a great leader, whose death is unthinkable. He goes back to those ages, where they worked for freedom struggle, risking their own lives. He proudly remembers the day which he took Comrade P. Krishnapilla on his shoulder across the river safely. He remembers contemptuously the day which the first EMS ministry was dismissed by the Central Government as a result of the unjust agitation by the religious lobbies of Kerala. He even had observed fast when AKG had gone on fast against a Government decision.
