Patrick Waddington (19 August 1903 – 4 February 1987) was an English actor, educated at Gresham's School, Holt, Norfolk. Born and died in York, England.
In 1951 he became General Secretary of TACT (The Actors Charitable Trust) and was headmaster of its children's home, Silverland, until 1953. A plaque to commemorate him can be seen in the Courtyard entrance to the Merchant Adventurers' Hall in York - he was a member of the Company of Merchant Adventurers of the City of York from 1933 to his death in 1987. In 1986, he self-published his autobiography, Patrick: Or, That Awful Warning.

Biographie
Waddington was the grandson of William Waddington, the piano manufacturer who also took over the management of the Theatre Royal York. He started his career singing and in the 1930s was in That Certain Trio with Peggy Cochrane. He appeared in numerous plays, films and TV series including "Dad's Army".In 1951 he became General Secretary of TACT (The Actors Charitable Trust) and was headmaster of its children's home, Silverland, until 1953. A plaque to commemorate him can be seen in the Courtyard entrance to the Merchant Adventurers' Hall in York - he was a member of the Company of Merchant Adventurers of the City of York from 1933 to his death in 1987. In 1986, he self-published his autobiography, Patrick: Or, That Awful Warning.

After the Battle of Worcester at the end of the Second English Civil War, the main aim of General Oliver Cromwell (John Le Mesurier) is to capture Charles Stuart (Gary Raymond), son of the executed Charles I. However, the dashing Royalist hero nicknamed "the Moonraker" (George Baker) prepares to smuggle him to safety in France, under the noses of Cromwell's soldiers. According to the story, the hero is called "the Moonraker" after the smuggler term, Moonrakers, sometimes claimed to hide contraband in the village pond and to rake it out by moonlight.

Major Bright and Captain Early are intelligence officers in the British army of occupation in post-World War 2 Germany. They are sent home on leave, but fail to notice that their new batman is actually wanted war criminal Otto Fisch.
