Olivera Marković (née Đorđević; Serbian: Оливера Марковић; 3 May 1925 – 2 July 2011) was a Serbian actress. She appeared in 170 films and television shows between 1946 and 2005. She won the Golden Arena for Best Actress in 1964 for her role in Službeni položaj.

Un cinéaste grec exilé revient dans son pays (dans le nord de la Grèce, vers Thessalonique), à la recherche des bobines originales du premier film réalisé dans les Balkans par les frères Manákis au début du XX siècle. Cette quête va le mener au travers de différents pays des Balkans, après la chute du communisme, de la Bulgarie à la République de Macédoine naissante, pour finir son périple à Sarajevo durant la guerre de Bosnie-Herzégovine dans une Yougoslavie en cours de désintégration. Il arrive finalement sous les balles durant le siège de Sarajevo, où il découvre les précieuses bobines conservées par un vieil homme, projectionniste de cinéma, qui tente tant bien que mal de préserver le patrimoine cinématographique de son pays en pleine explosion.

The film takes place in Vukovar, a city on the border between Serbia and Croatia, in a country which used to be called SFR Yugoslavia, on the eve of the country's breakup. It is a typical love story, between a Croat woman Ana (Mirjana Joković) and a Serb man Toma (Boris Isaković), who marry one another with the blessing of both families right before the Battle of Vukovar. Their harmonic community is brutally broken apart with the start of a civil war. Not only they but everyone around them, against their will, are brought into the craziness of war which divides them from family and friends. Divided, living through hell, they still hope that the horrors of war will stop and that their newborn baby will be able to have a fresh start.

Le film se déroule dans les années 1950 sous la Yougoslavie communiste. Zoran est un garçon de 10 ans, un peu en surpoids, qui vit dans une maison surpeuplée avec ses parents, sa grand-mère, sa tante et son oncle. De nombreuses maisons sont alors retirées à leurs propriétaires dans le cadre des réformes agraire. La famille de Zoran est divisée : ses parents sont hostiles à la politique de Tito, tandis que son oncle et sa tante soutiennent le régime. Le garçon, quant à lui, a appris à l'école que le dirigeant yougoslave est le plus grand homme qui ait jamais vécu, et le considère comme son héros. Un jour, Zoran gagne un concours de rédactions à la gloire du maréchal Tito : il obtient de participer à une excursion avec des enfants issus de familles privilégiées par le régime. Le point culminant du voyage sera une rencontre des enfants avec Tito en personne.

An archaeological team, digging in a remote village and led by an old professor, unearths an old Roman artifact, a gravestone bearing some mysterious inscriptions. After realizing that they have stumbled upon something precious, the professor collapses with a heart attack. Seemingly dead for people around him, he finds himself in a sort of afterlife state and realizes that the stone marked a passage into the classical underworld so he starts mingling with the antique spirits of the dead. The spirits themselves appear just as silly and petty as the peasants from the village above them, and in their desire to see what happened to their descendants, they find themselves surprised by the modern world of the living.

A madcap comedy featuring a band of roving musicians whose music is just a cover for the fact that they are actually con men. When a 10-year-old Jewish girl needs help in hiding from the Germans in order to escape being sent to a concentration camp, the group of thieves not only decide to protect the girl, but join forces with the underground resistance fighters to get rid of several German officers at the same time.
