Norman Mitchell Driver, better known as Norman Mitchell (27 August 1918 – 19 March 2001) was an English television, stage and film actor.

Born in Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire, his father was a mining engineer and his mother a concert singer. He attended Carterknowle Grammar School and the University of Sheffield, before appearing in repertory theatre and with the Royal Shakespeare Company. During World War II he served with the Royal Army Medical Corps. He then made thousands of television appearances and appeared in over sixty films.

Mitchell was married to actress Pauline Mitchell (Laura Deane - died 1992). He was the father of Jacqueline Mitchell and actor Christopher Mitchell, most notable for his role in the BBC sitcom It Ain't Half Hot Mum. His son Christopher predeceased him by a month.

À la suite d'une panne de radar, un navire de la prison est immobilisé non loin d'un ilot surmonté d'un phare. Un dangereux meurtrier psychopathe, Leo Rook (Christopher Adamson) profite de la confusion pour voler un canot et s'échapper, il parvient sur l'île et massacre les employés du phare. Le vaisseau tente de repartir malgré l'absence de radar mais s'échoue sur les récifs à proximité d'un îlot. Un petit groupe composé d'officiers, de prisonniers (dont deux enchaînes l'un à l'autre) et d'une psychologue parvient à gagner l'île. Mais Leo Rook les attends et cherche de les éliminer.

XIX siècle, à la veillée de Noël, un gitan et sa femme las d'être persécutés trouvent refuge dans une grotte. L'épouse meurt en donnant naissance à un bébé, quand au père, il se fait tuer par une meute de loups. L'enfant est élevé en animal sauvage comme ceux de la meute. Devenu un adolescent, il est recueilli par des artistes de cirque pour devenir leur principale attraction : « The Wolf Boy. » Devenu adulte, il prend le nom d'Étoile et devient acrobate. Mais une nuit de pleine lune, il se transforme en loup-garou et manque de tuer le contremaître du cirque. Il s'enfuit et se retrouve à Paris. Pris en sympathie par le gardien du zoo municipal, Étoile est embauché comme homme à tout faire. Bientôt, il tombe amoureux de Christine, une prostituée qui officie près du zoo. Après avoir été repoussé de sa demande de l'épouser, Étoile se transforme chaque nuit de pleine lune et tue. Le professeur Paul qui travaille comme médecin légiste à la morgue constate que les morts ont été causés par des morsures de loup. Il commence son enquête dans le bordel de la jeune femme.

On their father's death, Eli and Nellie Pledge inherit a pickle factory in Colne, in the north of England. The warring siblings struggle to keep the decrepit "Pledge's Purer Pickles" afloat, hampered by severe lack of funds, zero business acumen and by having inherited a workforce that is a decade beyond retirement age. While Nellie works hard to keep the business going, Eli prefers to indulge in the delights of beer, cigarettes, gambling and women.The annual Summer holiday is soon upon them and the entire factory is closed down. Nellie takes Eli to a Blackpool boarding house run by landlady Mrs. Rowbottom, whose eyes light upon bachelor Eli. Eli though, only has eyes for the younger Freda. Complications ensue when Eli, Nellie, Mrs. Rowbottom and Freda all try to gain control of the factory, causing ensuing farcical mishaps. Eli's attempts to further his financial ambitions by marrying off Nellie to a colleague in the pickling business are challenged when Vernon Smallpiece is snatched from the altar by bailiffs for non-payment of his debts.

Bus driver Stan (Reg Varney) cannot afford the payments on a new washing machine or other expensive items his Mum and sister have bought on hire purchase. His overtime earnings have been cut because the bus company has decided to revoke a long-standing rule and employ women bus drivers. Worried at the thought of no overtime, and therefore less wages, he joins forces with his longtime colleague Jack (Bob Grant) to sabotage the new female employees. Meanwhile, just as his sister Olive (Anna Karen) starts working in the canteen, she discovers that she's expecting a baby. A sub plot explores Olive's journey to hospital while in labour in a motorcycle side car and the domestic disturbance the baby brings. Another sub plot explores Stan and Jack's amorous adventures. Stan flees a jealous husband in his bus and demolishes a telephone kiosk and bus shelter in the process. As a result, he is forced to undertake a driving test on a bus skid pan.
