Monja Danischewsky est un producteur de cinéma et un scénariste britannique né le 28 avril 1911 à Arkhangelsk (Russie) et mort le 16 octobre 1994 à Farnham (Surrey).
Après avoir étudié au Royal College of Art, il commence à travailler comme journaliste avant d'intégrer l'industrie cinématographique comme attaché de presse. En 1938, il rejoint les studios Ealing comme directeur de la publicité, peu après l'arrivée de Michael Balcon à la tête du studio.
En 1948, il passe à la production avec Whisky à gogo ! d'Alexander Mackendrick, qui est un succès au box-office. Il devient alors indépendant, même s'il garde des liens avec les studios Ealing. Son plus grand succès en tant que scénariste sera Topkapi de Jules Dassin.

Biographie
Sa famille quitte la Russie en 1919.Après avoir étudié au Royal College of Art, il commence à travailler comme journaliste avant d'intégrer l'industrie cinématographique comme attaché de presse. En 1938, il rejoint les studios Ealing comme directeur de la publicité, peu après l'arrivée de Michael Balcon à la tête du studio.

Beaten and expelled by African villagers for trying to cheat them, the unconscious Joe Moses drifts down a river where he is discovered by the natives of another village. This tribe is being pressured to move by the District Officer (Ian Bannen) as their land will be flooded by the release of waters from a dam; but they refuse to leave their homes. Deeply Christian, the villagers compare Joe Moses to the real Moses due to his discovery in the reeds as was the baby Moses. With a broken leg and no money, Joe Moses is trapped in the village.

The film is based on the Yugoslav resistance movement under the command of General Draza Mihailovich. But politics overtook the situation because Mihailovich and the Royalists were about to be abandoned and betrayed by the British government - as parts of the Chetnik movement co-operated with the Nazis - in favor of the Communist and Stalinist leader Josip Broz Tito at the time. Speaking in the British Parliament on February 22, 1944, the then Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, said: “General Mihailovic, I much regret to say, drifted gradually into position where his commanders made accommodations with Italian and German troops…”
