Monalisa Chinda, née le 13 septembre 1974 à Port Harcourt au Nigeria, est une actrice du cinéma Nollywood, mais également une productrice, une personnalité de la télévision et des médias.

Biographie

Monalisa Chinda was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to an Ikwerre father and an Igbo mother. She is the first born in her family of two sons and four daughters. She attended Army Children’s School GRA for Primary and then Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls' School, Elelenwo, for Secondary. Both schools are located in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She obtained a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Port Harcourt.

Monalisa's first major movie was Pregnant Virgin, which she did in 1996 and subsequently, after she graduated in 2000, she did Above the Law and has done many others since then.

In 2007 her road to stardom kicked off when she started appearing in the television soap Heaven’s Gate. In 2011,she debuted as Executive Producer in the Royal Arts Academy movie, 'Kiss & Tell', which Emem Isong co-produced with her and Desmond Elliott directed. In 2012, she became one of the first of four Nollywood actors to be featured on the cover of Hollywood Weekly Magazine
This November, 2014 the actress is branching out of acting a little bit and is set to debut her Talk Show titled 'You & I with Monalisa."

Monalisa is involved in a lot of charity work. She has a column (Monalisa Code) in the Saturday edition of The Sun Newspapers where she writes on social issues and relationships. She is a consultant with Royal Arts Academy, a media school known for breeding new talents, in acting, directing, and screen-writing.

The film revolves around two Casanovas, friends and business partners; Iyke (Joseph Benjamin) and Bernard (Desmond Elliot), and a divorce lawyer, Delphine (Monalisa Chinda), who is a divorcee herself and doesn't want to have anything to do with men again. Bernard strikes a bet with Iyke which involves Iyke having sex with Delphine in ten days or forfeit five percent of his shares to Bernard; if Iyke succeeded, he'd have five percent of Bernard's shares. However, Bernard tells Tena (Nse Ikpe Etim), Delphine's best friend about the bet in order to have an edge, thereby complicating things for Iyke.

The film looks at the indiscretions among several wealthy Lagosian couples. The main protagonist Tara (Kate Henshaw-Nuttal) decides to do a research on relationships for a TV show, centering her research on couples which include a television talk show host Abby (Monalisa Chindu); her boyfriend Richmond (Michael Ezuruonye) and his greedy woman on the side (Ini Edo); a housewife with a painful past (Chioma Chukwuka) and her husband (Bob-Manuel Udokwu), haunted by dark secrets; and another housewife (Uche Jombo) struggling with a wealthy, cheating husband (Jim Iyke) and his demanding mistress (Dakore Egbuson).
