Coming from small-town Chiaroscuro to big city Bombay, conman and compulsive liar, Raj Malhotra (Govinda), a lawyer by profession, sets up shop with fellow lawyer, Mohan. He falls in love with Sonam (Sushmita Sen), daughter of a wealthy lawyer Tejpal. He devises a scheme to marry into this wealthy family, and he succeeds. Years later, he has a son, who wishes that his dad would stop lying; and a mistress, Tara. The son's wish comes true, and all utterances from Raj's mouth are truthful. This creates a crisis in his personal life, as he confesses about his mistress; as well as his professional life, when he starts telling the truth in court, especially with his underworld clients, who are now out to kill him.

Ajay Bakshi, journaliste vedette au style peu orthodoxe et à l'ego surdimensionné, use de tous les moyens pour contrer Ria Banerjee, son alter ego et rivale d'une chaîne concurrente. Loin de ce monde clinquant où la seule chose qui vaille est la course au scoop, un homme d'affaires est assassiné à la veille des élections et des troubles inter communautaires éclatent dans le pays. Le meurtrier, Mohan Joshi, est arrêté sur le champ, mais réussit à s'enfuir. Il est immédiatement accusé de terrorisme. Mohan Joshi contacte Ajay et Ria auxquels il dévoile les motivations de son geste : sa fille est morte des suites d'un viol perpétré par l'homme que, fou de douleur, il vient d'assassiner. Les deux journalistes font taire leur antagonisme et luttent ensemble pour faire éclater la vérité malgré l'opposition de leurs rédactions, les menaces des politiciens corrompus et les intimidations de la mafia.

Lors d'une visite d'Agra, Pooja rencontre un vidéaste de renom, Kabir. Il est immédiatement séduit par Pooja et pense que c'est réciproque alors que la jeune femme n'est attirée que par son talent. Afin de conserver son poste, Pooja accepte à contre-cœur de jouer cette comédie. Tandis que Kabir est ravi d'apprendre que Pooja a annoncé leurs fiançailles, il devient de plus en plus difficile à cette dernière de convaincre Raj qu'elle l'aime.

A woman Neha (Ramya Krishnan) witnesses the murder of a friend of her named Madhu (Divya Dutta) by a notorious smuggler Zorawar (Paresh Rawal) but she skips while being chased by Zorawar's goons and ends up in the secure custody of police inspector Arjun Singh (Amitabh Bachchan), a friend of police inspector Pyare Mohan (Govinda). In reality, Neha, unaware of their identities, believes Arjun to be "Pyare", about whom she was agreeably apprised of by Madhu, and so, Arjun has to impersonate Pyare, giving rise to hilarious situations. Concurrently, Pyare flirts with Seema (Raveena Tandon) - Arjun's sister. Everything could have been passable for the two cops if two lookalikes of the cops, by the nicknames "Bade Miyan" (Amitabh Bachchan) and "Chote Miyan" (Govinda) had not been a cause of concern for them because of the misdeeds they commit leading to Arjun and Pyare being accused as the miscreants everytime. With background scores of the songs (specially "Bade Miyan Toh Bade Miyan") that stir the listeners, the movie advances through scenes of thrill and amusement.

Due to the circumstances, Anand has to accept the situation and takes her to his house. Asha insists that she does not remember any incident about her life with Anand. To make her believe doctor lies to her that she has a birthmark in the part of the body only known to her husband. He also places a photograph of hers with the wedding photo of Anand. Asha yet resists that she cannot remind anything but believes that Anand is her husband and she is a mother of his child.
